Only 51?! What a shame! He had a great voice, I always loved his rendition of
"Looking For A City" when he was with the Happy Goodmans.

I don't know Johnny Cook, but I have always loved his voice. Additionally,
I've always been amazed at how his voice favored Vestal's. At times, you
couldn't tell much difference.

I'm not sure about why he didn't sing more of his life, and I don't know
anything about his character. If he lived anything like he sang, however,
he was quite a man.

If my memory serves me correctly, he came off the road to pastor.

Johnny had a couple of groups after he left the Goodmans. Johnny Cook and
the Voices Triumphant and the Johnny Cook Trio. I know he worked for Baptist
Hospital (Memphis, Tn) in the accounting department before he went with the
Statesmen Reunion. To my knowledge, he never pastored.
