Singing News is reporting Jonathan Parker has resigned his baritone position
with the Carolina Boys. He was with the Kingsmen, now Carolina Boys for 13
years.

Yesterday on a message board someone reported that the Carolina Boys had
been booked for the
Western version of the Quartet convention. Previously Convention managers
had not booked the Carolina Boys although they had all the same vocalists as
the Kingsmen. The Singing News, which had not been reporting on the Carolina
Boys for one year, apparently because of some legal issue involving the
ending of the Kingsmen, recently reported Jerry Martin leaving them and now
are reporting Parker leaving the Kingsmen. Does anyone know if the Kingsmen
legal dispute has been settled? If so, did the settlement involve a deal
requiring some members to
leave the Carolina Boys? I know it sounds farfetched and maybe it is but is
strange that the Boys were ignored
by much of the industry for a year and now with good things happening,
including their first major CD, two key
members quit.

By the way, the SN release from Ray Reese says Tim Surrett, "formerly" of
the Isaacs and Kingsmen, will fill in
for Parker. Does anyone know if Tim has left the Isaacs or did Ray Reese
use the wrong word?

After I posted this, I saw the statement Parker issued. Here it is:

For 13 years I have stood on stages all across America and Canada and sung
the gospel. I have never wanted to do anything else, and God has seen fit to
allow me to live out my dream. My years with the Kingsmen and now with the
Carolina Boys Quartet have been both trying and rewarding, however the time
has come to move on to a new chapter of my life.

Many don't know that my wife and I lost our first child earlier this year
due to miscarriage. As a result, she had to undergo emergency surgery which
could potentially prevent us from having children. She and I both have been
dealing with the emotional loss of this little one, and thru it all she has
been a real trooper. She admits having bouts of depression over this, which
has made it increasingly hard to leave home each week. Recently, she had a
doctor's appointment to determine whether we can still have children, but
due to my road schedule I was unable to attend the procedure with her. This
bothered me deeply and made me realize that the time has come to be a
husband first. After the prayers of our families and close friends, her
tests came back positive, indicating we are able to conceive.

We feel that God has answered this prayer for us to be able to have
children, and also feel it is God's way of saying it's time to be at home.
The rigors of the road have taken their toll on me physically, mentally, and
spiritually, and I don't mind telling you, I'm tired! Couple the trauma that
Paula and I were dealt earlier this year with the demands of running a
group, and you can perhaps understand my exhaustion.

I know you will be asking, "what will you be doing now?" I can honestly say,
"I have no idea!" But in September, 2001, I saw the Lord work wonderful
miracles in our lives when the picture looked bleakest. I had no idea what I
would do upon the retirement of the Kingsmen name. The Lord worked all that
out, and I have no doubt He will take care of us now.

Ray Reese and the rest of the Carolina Boys Quartet have been fantastic to
understand our decision. I encourage you to continue to support them in all
their endeavors, as I know I will be.

Blessings On You!
Parker Jonathan

For Tim to have left the Isaacs, wouldn't it be more than dropping out of a
group? Considering he's married in, that's a pretty big statement.

It is my understanding that Tim and Sonya have divorced. I was told
this by a reliable source in SGM.

We saw the Isaacs 2 weeks ago in Hiawassee, GA. As Lilly was
introducing the group, she stated that Sonya's HUSBAND, Tim was
traveling with Squire Parsons' group for a few weeks to help out. Now
she'll be saying that Tim's traveling with the CB's to help out. Makes
sense that Ray would call on Tim for help since he used to be with the
group. Can't assume that Tim's no longer with the Isaacs. Think it was
just poor wording on the press release by the SN people We certainly
wish PJ the best and will be praying for he and Paula.

I thought it just said he would be filling in to help them out.....not
that he would be leaving the Isaacs to become a permanant member??

Part of the reason is that Greg Fox sold the group last year. Some of those
men who aquired the name are on the board of NQC. They immediately
terminated some of the members of the group, at which time, the remaining
members quit. Thus started the "Carolina boys" So as you can imagine,
there was not good blood between the carolina boys and NQC.

Parker is leaving for personal reasons and is not in any way unhappy with
the group.

Personel changes are part of this work. You have to accept it and move on.
It is tough living on the road, and sometimes things happen behind the
scenes that require you to come off of the road and take care of them.
Family requirements, and illness are two primary examples!

We wish Parker all the best and feel confidant that "The Carolina Boys" will
continue with much success for the work of The Lord.

According to what Parker told the crowd at a concert in Clearfield, Ky.
not long ago is that Fox (owner of the Kingsmen name) retired and in honor
of Fox it was decided to retire the Kingsmen lable also. The guys still
wanted to be together so they all stayed, except the piano player, and
thus the Carolina Boys was created. Their new piano player is from Canada
and he needs to learn one of my all time fav's "When MaMa Prayed' Heaven
Payed Attention".

I don't think this Christian man would tell a crowd of Christians a false
hood.

Just my 1 1/2 cents worth

Tim
