Hi,

I have been asked to find out if the lyrics to Vow and the Trick is to Keep
Breathing have any particular meaning (like emotionally) to the band or
shirley herself... like I heard that push it revolved around shirleys past
loves/experiences, or something like that. Also, I know there is a site out
there that has lyrics, can anyone point me in the right direction!!
thanks!

As far as I know, the band wrote the lyrics to Vow after Butch read a story
about a woman who went back to get revenge on an abusive lover. TTITKB is a
bit trickier. Shirley said it was about a friend of hers who was abandoned
by her husband and her family when Shirley herself was away on tour and
Shirl said when she came back this friend just sort of crumpled in front of
her. Shirley said she felt guilty she wasn't there for her friend and she
said that TTITKB was for her. Oh, and www.garbage.net has a pretty complete
lyrics section.

Well, there you go if that's any help.

According to some radio interviews (Modern Rock Live?), I believe OHWIR is a
tongue-in-cheek poke at the trend towards "Goth-rock"--the idea that some
people wallow in misery or poverty even when they have nothing to be
miserable about and they're comfortably well-off. Faux grunge, posers, etc.
Can't help you on Special, though.

Shirley said on Howard Stern that Special was about a friend of hers who let
her down. She also said in Melody Maker that it changed by the time it was
finished it had changed to a "boy dumps girl from a great height, girl gets
on with her life" story. Any help?

Special according to some interview I read is about a best girlfriend
that shirley had that turned on her and she is saying I thought you
where special and I see you are not.
