Foo Fighters' eighth album is produced by Butch Vig and the eight songs were
each recorded in a different U.S city: Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles,
Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
The journey of the album's creation is chronciled as part of HBO's 'Sonic
Highways' TV series. The documentary was made concurrently with the Foo
Fighters' album. Grohl described the project as "a love letter to the
history of American music". The series has eight episodes where the Foo
Fighters travel to eight legendary studios in eight different cities across
the United States of America to write and record their album.
