I don't know. I'm looking for this because someone told me that Stevie
never denied rumors that LB was abusive but LB's old girlfriend said he was
so I assume many put two and two together.
Let me clarify this. I know a few Stevie die-hard want to believe Lindsey's
abusive to Stevie. Also someone in Stevie newsgroup claims that Stevie said
Lindsey was going to kill her during 1987 incident, however, I have yet to read
the actual interview. Here is what Stevie has to say about 1987 incident:
In a BBC series called "Rock Family Trees." This is what Stevie had to say
about the night Lindsey announced that he was leaving the band: "Because of
that guilt I have had not leaving Fleetwood Mac, I flew off the couch, and
across the room to seriously attack him (Lindsey) And I did. I mean, I'm not
real scary, but I can be fairly ferocious, and I grabbed him." So instead of
Lindsey slapped Stevie, Stevie was the first one attacked Lindsey.
From the Feb. 1989 Musician Magazine written by Timothy White, Stevie describes
the altercation this way: "It was horrifying for both of us," says a somber
Stevie Nicks, describing her August altercation with Lindsey Buckingham, a
shouting match extraordinaire. "We said too much to each other. We said all the
things that we had wanted to say for the last 10 years, and we screamed at each
other. Those things in a relationship that you try to never say just in case
you do get back together--we said those things. Lindsey and I had been going
together from about 1971 to around 1976. But we never really broke up until
that moment. We've since patched up our friendship, because Lindsey is far too
important to my life not to do that, but the creative ties are behind us. The
thing about FM is that everybody wants everybody to be free," Nicks now
reflects, "everybody wants you to be in this group because you want to. I think
that in his heart Lindsey didn't want to say, "I quit, I'm leaving." Everybody
believes in dreams and fairytales, and we all hoped he'd change his mind. I
knew he would never change his mind."
>Does anyone remember the name of Lindey's ex-girlfriend who went
on Geraldo and said that LB was abusive?>
Carol Ann Harris was LB's girlfriend for about 7 years. She was a nice girl
when she first met Lindsey and they were very happy for first two or three
years according to Lindsey and his family members and friends. However, she
started to use coccaine and became addict to it. The relationship ended in 1984
and Lindsey supported her for several years to help her out although he didn't
have to. 11 years later, Carol Ann went on Geraldo show and claimed that
Lindsey choked her once. I didn't actually watch the show. But according to
people saw the show, she seems to make up the story along the show. I think
Mick's book may plant a seed in her mind. Maybe she thinks that this is a way
to get back Lindsey. Her allegation has no proof whatsever. If there is any
truth to it, Lindsey woud have paid big bucks to Carol Ann to shut up her
mouth.
From BAM 1992 interview, Lindsey has following to say:
"I found there were a few things in there that weren't accurate. Everyone was
very hurt by that. Not by any facts in particular, which I definitely was hurt
by, but just the tone of it in general. Just the fact that it was so trashy.
Fleetwood Mac may have wound down, but it's a shame to have things come out
that sort of add a lack of dignity to it. It doesn't have to be that way. I was
very unhappy with a couple of very specific incidents described in there, which
were totally untrue. I never responded to it. I didn't think there was any
reason to dignify it. But there was one story that had me slapping Stevie when
I said I was leaving the band. The next time I saw Stevie after that, she came
up to me, and said, 'God, I'm really sorry he wrote that.' She was apologizing
to me for something he wrote... "
From 1992 Rolling Stone interview:
"there were a lot of... untruths, shall we say. Mick was basically trying to
underplay my contribution, but the thing that really upset me is the incident
he describes of the night I left the band. He had this thing in there about me
slapping Stevie. I mean, she probably deserved to be slapped. But it never
happened that way. I don't know what Mick was talking about."
Personally, I always think Mick is a questionable character. In his book, he
claims that the group blame him for how unprofitable the Tusk tour was. But
according to Creem Magazine (2/83), he was fired as group's manager because he
embezzled money from band memeber. Here is the quote: "there are those who'll
tell you that avarice is indeed a part of his character. It's said that when
the rest of the group discovered he's been helping himself to a much larger cut
than he's let on at the end of his six-year tenure as the group's manager, the
rest of the group were so upset that they'd have throtted him with their bare
hands except for the fact that none of them culd reach his neck"
In addition, Bob Welch filed for a royalties lawsuit in Los Angeles County
Superior Court in 1994 agaist Mick for failing to pay royalties to him.
Personally I won't take anyting Mick said seriously.
I also think we should add a section about Mick's book which contains a lots of
lies and half-truth. He even lies about Peter Green, but that's another topic.

Lindsey is a man who doesn't lie. If he said he didn't, then I believe him.
I remember you're the one who claims to read an article in which Stevie said
Lindsey was going to kill her during 1987 incident. I would love the read the
actual interview. Do you care to share with us??

Are you talking about the model who was in his "Big Love" video?

Big Love was made in 1987, by then Lindsey already kicked Carol Ann out. I used
to think the model was Cheri, another Lindsey's ex, but the model is just
model, not Lindsey's girlfriend. I think Lindsey used the same model for his
1992 video Wrong.

Quite honestly, it is obvious that they have forgiven each
for any past wrong doings, so it is really a completely dead
point.
Ironically, even Mick acknowledges this point. I just read a recent
interview with the two of them where Mick specifically comments about how
Lindsey has a way of being brutally honest and truthful.
Lindsey, on the other hand, remarked about how Mick's "agendising" behind
the scenes constantly infuriates him, but attributes the reunion of FM to
that very trait.
Very insightful interview - it's in the Penguin's Blue Letter Archives
(under LB from 3/98, I think).
Chris
Yes..That happened at a concert in Australia and Chris slapped him for it...

According to Mick, they were playing one night on the Tusk tour and
Lindsey had a BIT too much to drink beforehand. Stevie was in the middle
of singing "Rhiannon" when Lindsey started playing out of key and kind of
making fun of Stevie - pulling his jacket up over his head to imitate her
shawls, spinning, and kicking at her (I don't think literally kicking
her). Stevie did her best to stay with the song, and the crowd appeared
to just ignore it. Afterwards, as Mick continues (and I've read about
Christine's and Lindsey's sides to confirm this), Christine reached
Lindsey first backstage, slapped him hard across the face and threw her
drink at him, saying something like "Don't EVER do that to this band
again!" Lindsey said he didn't remember the specific incident, but that
he probably deserved that response if that was the case...

His *girlfriend* of 16 YEARS!? I have no knowledge of Lindsey's
girlfriends past Stevie, but don't you think marriage would have come into
the picture at some point after the first couple years?
Take care,
Chris
uh i dont think it was 16 years... cause he got with cheri caspari around the
time of tango, i think... but 16 years.. no..cause that would have ended in 96
or 97. but he didnt stay with carol ann THAT long. she leeched off of him for a
lot of years, but not that many.

Here is what Stevie said about the incident: "Lindsey and I had another huge
thing that happened onstage in New Zealand. We had some kind a fight, and he
came over - might have kicked me, did something to me, and we stopped the show.
He went off, and we all ran at breakneck speed back to the dressing room to see
who could kill him first."
I'm not trying to defend Lindsey here. Whatever he did was wrong. I'm sure that
Lindsey and other band members have done things they're not proud of. What
amazes me is that everyone chose to trash him in that interview instead, at the
same time, they wanted him badly to do the reunion. They seem to remember
everything he has done wrong but nothing of themselves.
"Lindsey had broken up with a girlfriend of 16 years just before the Dance tour
- is that Carol Ann? Does anyone know?"
Lindsey had two serious relationships after Stevie, one was Carol Ann, they met
in 1976 and broke up in 1984. That relationship ended badly, Lindsey had to
throw her out literally. You can read a 1984 Rolling Stone article in Penguin.
Lindsey met Cheri Casperi in 1984 when making Go Insane. Lindsey rarely
mentioned about her, maybe after two well-publicized breakups, he learned to be
smart. He did thank her in Tango and OOTC liner note. They broke up briefly in
1992 and Lindsey dated someone elso for a while, and they got back together
again and broke up again in 1996. Currently he's with a new girlfriend in her
30s for two years. He plans to get married and have kids when time is right (I
hope so and soon). There is a Lindsey's interview on RS online. You need real
audio to listen to the interview which lasted about 45 minutes. He talked about
his ex and his new girlfriend.
does anyone know *WHY* LB kicked her? i thought they were on good terms
during the dance tour?
Anise
he kicked her (if that's what really happened) during the Tusk tour.

I don't know about Lindsey's girlfriend, and that's because I really don't care too
much for Lindsey. I do know, though, that he ahs been abusive to Stevie in the past,
so this comes as no real surprise. If he really did kick her, Stevie could have got
him back much harder with those boots of hers!! ~Love Rhiannon~
Okay, so tell me how you know so much about Stevie & Lindsey's relationship,
all we can do as fans is speculate. I would like to know where you're getting
you're information.
Just curious-

I thought it was a New Zealand Rumours show....
~*~ Nia ~*~
The incident you're talking about actually happened either the Tusk or Mirage
tours (I believe it was Tusk, at a stop in New Zealand), not the Dance tour.
During one of the songs, Lindsey, who had been singing off-key and being
generally obnoxious the entire show, started doing a crude imitation of
Stevie's dancing. I'm not altogether sure whether he kicked Stevie or not, but
I do know that they stopped the show and the whole band chased him backstage.
I know that Christine managed to slap Lindsey, but I think the fight was
stopped before anyone else could get to him.
