I'm just curious of what the world think;
Which track is the best on "Cowboy"?
Personaly, I prefer "Save Me Darling". What do you think?
/Johan Nilsson, Uppsala, Sweden, ja...@hem1.passagen.se
I guess it's a bit late for this but I would just like to be awfully boring and
say that Cowboy is absolutely brilliant and everyone in the universe and their
dog should buy eight copies right now!
I had heard quite a few of the songs already from websites but somehow they did
not do it justice! I am sure I am preaching to the converted here but if anyone
is reading this and wavering about buying Cowboy, waver no longer - buy it now!!
(apologies to Erasure loving cousins Stateside who maybe can't get it now so
easily :)
I am unable to name a fave right now as there are so many classics - it is just
the best stuff they have ever done.
Oh, and a quick word for all those critics in papers etc. who say ' well it's
still synthesisers so it's exactly the same as all their other work' - **** off!
Happy listening!
Ian
YEP. i think so 2.
the 2nd best is probably love affair... what do you think?
My faves are Worlds On Fire with Treasure running a close second.

I find Treasure to be my favorite. There is something that
gets me in that melody.

I have to agree - " Worlds on fire" is my fave track, followed by
" Treasure" . I don't think it's a bad thing that the intro sounds like "
Crown of thorns ", because that's an excellent song, too!
Yes, everyone should buy this album. Pay no attention to the media press!
Long live Erasure!!

And why do they insist on playing "Rock Me Gently," especially over, well,
ANYTHING ELSE off _Erasure_ - - especially "Fingers and Thumbs."
Besides, the video for "Rock Me Gently" was stupid.
Oh, the bitterness and angst . . .
I kind of agree here. It would be nice to hear more from "I Say I Say I
Say" (like "Because You're So Sweet") or Erasure ("Love The Way You Do
So" or "Angel"). Oh well, guess I'll just have to suffer through the
show in May; )
BTW- I thought the performance of "Rock Me Gently" was gorgeous on the
last tour.
Fred
It was indeed...there's nothing like bass that makes not only your
trousers vibrate, but indeed everything in your field of vision.
I bet mice in the building (Park West, CHicago) were dying of heart
failure from the subsonic vibration.
Must say that I am also somewhat disappointed that they apparently
aren't going to be doing more new stuff. I was quite under the impression
that the Tiny Tour and Teeny Tiny Tour (what some of us have taken to
calling the North American shows) were kind of a 'last dance' for most of
the old stuff; the Cowboy Concerts were portrayed as showcasing mostly
ISay^3, Erasure and the new album.
I for one would absolutely KILL to see Fingers and Thumbs or Run To The
Sun or Angel or Rescue Me in concert!
Still, I think I'd be happy even if they just came out and Andy sang
from the *phone directory*, for chrissakes. :)
"Rain" is my vote....ANY song I've ever heard with the title "Rain" is
excellent, actually. :)
"Rain" - Madonna
"Rain" - Red Flag
"Rain" - Erasure!!!!!

Outstanding! I didn't know that anyone else knew that Red Flag
exsisted!

Incidentally, I think this is the third best Erasure album ever, behind
Chorus, then The Innocents.
I think Erasure made a conscious decision to borrow some signature sounds
from their older songs for this album. What do you guys/gals think?
"I Say I Say I Say" and "Cowboy" are my favorites, followed CLOSELY by
"Chorus"
"The Circus"
"Erasure"
"Wonderland"
"Wild!"
"The Innocents"
Not really necessary to say, but I truly TREASURE all of these albums
though! It's hard to rank them.
It DOES sound like Vince has been listening to some of the early stuff
in preparation for this album. Nice percussion, some piano sounds, and
even the little violin sweep in "How Can I Say"! As always, lots of
innovative new stuff going on as well. Andy's vocal have been treated
like gold on this album - gorgeous recording, and fabulous backup
acrobatics as well.
Yay!
Fred
Red Flag's "Rain" is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!
Fred
The album as a whole? Andy's voice sounds stellar. The beats vary quite a
bit, which is a big step. Not sure I get the whole cowboy theme yet
(except on Treasure)...
I would say this album is a little unsurprising. After "Erasure" I was
glad to see the boys evolving into something more textured and aurally
stimulating. While "Cowboy" is musically textured, there is something
missing upon my first day's listen. There are definitely some weak tracks
and I really question the inclusion of "Magic Moments."
Did anyone read the nasty review in Entertainment Weekly? Yikes! Thank God
Madonna is behind them now...
Cleveland's Music Hall here I come!

Later.
NO "I Love Saturday?!?!?!?!" I LOVE THAT SONG!! I have been waiting
three friggin' years for a tour so that I could watch them perform that
song live. Ugh!
I guess that's what happens when they release three albums between
tours, the first of the three gets kinda left by the wayside. Too bad
it's one of my all time favorites.

I have to agree with you on this one.. It's rare to find people who
someone like you who likes all three rain songs...
RED FLAG is AWESOME!
The movie was "Lord of Illusions"

We were discussing the same thing, and Andy would probably agree with me
that Deborah Harry, a personal godess we share, did an excellent song
called "Rain" on "Debravation".
funny you should say this, because listen closely to the song
"Treasure". Do you hear that spoken, computerized voice talking (usually
at the end of a statement)? well, Marilyn Manson also used that same
voice modulator (or something) in the song "Antichrist Superstar". Two
worlds colliding!

I know this is an Erasure newsgroup but I can make it fit BECAUSE I saw
Red Flag in the same local club that I saw Erasure in during their
"Circus" tour.
With that justification out of the way... Does anyone know what happened
to Red Flag? They moved to L.A. and disappeared.

Red Flag is still kicking! They've put out 1 album and 1 EP in the last
2 years.
You should visit "A Different Drum" to get a hold of their sutff:
