Wasn't aware of this before I just now saw it on VH1, but does anybody remember
when Creedance Clearwater Revival got inducted into the Rockhall in 1995 that
John Fogerty refused to play with them on stage for their special inductee's
performance? He used his own band and the rest of CCR ended up totally walking
out, now that's being downright rude. I know there's bad blood there from their
breakup with the lawsuit and all, but you just don't do something like that,
you've got to have some class and dignity for yourself.
I certainly hope this won't happen with Jeff Lynne and Part Two when they do
indeed get inducted. I would think that they'd both have more respect for
themselves and the fans.
Now I don't think that ELO's situation is as bad as CCRs and have faith Jeff
will do the right thing when it comes time by playing with them one last time
for an induction performance, but you just never know because both of these
groups in a way have had similar fallouts between each other.
And, if he doesn't, he'll definately be hearing from me on it because that will
show just what kind of a man Jeff really is, somebody I thought I'd known but
obviously didn't. I'm just venting here because nothing has happened yet and
hopefully it will stay that way.
Whatever does happen though, I will of course always love Jeff's great music
that he did give me with ELO et al for how wonderful it is, no matter who the
person ultimately turns out to be.
Thanx for reading my vent,
Rick
It's called Professionalism, Rick. You don't get away with those kinds
of petty outbursts in this business without irking somebody off.
I knew a bunch of radio deejays years ago who walked out of a reunion
broadcast because they thought they were too big for the college
station that gave them their start. Only two guys ever came to the
reunion and went on and proved to me at least that they were
professionals and did the job they were suppose to do. To those two
who are my best friends, Thanks Tony and Mike.
Thanx Steven. You're right, that was one word I was looking to use and just
couldn't think of it. Also, it wouldn't just tick somebody off, I would think
all fans and the general public as well are going to be at least irked about
this petty little outburst.
John Fogerty also said that the lawsuit had to do in some part with his
contract at Fantasy Records, CCR's recording label. But again you've got to
rise above all that for the occasion. Be professional about it for the once in
a lifetime event of being inducted into the Rockhall.

I think Fogerty is right. He wrote all the music for CCR, and then when
his band members scream about what songs they record he says "fine you can
write the damn music if its so easy and lets see what happens". Next album
was a total bomb. As he said they left him out to dry with the recording
contract, and now they want to be all buddy buddy at the HOF. Wrong
answer. I dont know how bad the ELO and Jeff Lynne situation is, but
should they make the HOF, it would be interesting to see what would happen.
Im sure Lynne harbored no bad feelings towards ELO because he was burnt out
on ELO, but the lawsuits and legal problems that followed may have done
alot of damage.

Don't get me wrong. I love Forgerty's music but I haven't heard much
of him since his 80's solo effort which I liked. If he harbors ill
feelings it might be for the same reasons Jeff went through
and he just took it out on the band.

I wholeheartedly agree.
As much as I love ELO - and *I* think they should be in the HOF - I don't
think we'll ever have to worry about whether or not Jeff will play with
them at any induction ceremony.

That is so bad. The way i see it, Lou Reed put away his diff's to play
with the Velvets(namingly John Cale), so there's no excuse for doing
something like that.

I concur. As much as I love Jeff and ELO I believe that they have no chance
in achieving this goal (no matter how deserving). Unfortunately, critics
never cared much for the band -has this changed in the last decade or two?.
