Yours Truly, 2095
[2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...]

I sent a message to another time
But as the days unwind, this I just can't believe
I sent a note across another plane
Maybe it's all a game, but this I just can't conceive.

[Can you hear me?]

I drive the very latest hovercar
I don't know where you are
But I miss you so much till then
I met someone who looks a lot like you
She does the things you do
But she is an IBM.

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

She's only programmed to be very nice
But she's as cold as ice
Whenever I get too near
She tells me that she likes me very much
But when I try to touch
She makes it all too clear.

She is the latest in technology
Almost mythology
But she has a heart stone
She has an I.Q. of 1001
She has a jumpsuit on
And she's also a telephone.

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

[CHORUS:]
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want? (Is it what you really want?)
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want?

I realize that it must seem so strange
That time has rearranged
But time has the final word
She knows I think of you, she reads my mind
She tries to be unkind
She knows nothing of our world

Although her memory banks overflow
No one would ever know
For all she says: "Is that what you want?"
Maybe one day I'll feel her cold embrace
And kiss her interface
'Til then, I'll leave her alone.

I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly...

[REPEAT CHORUS]

"Is that what you want?"

Ticket to the Moon

When you say it that way, I feel REALLY old.
Time is undoubtedly my favorite ELO album, and probably my favorite album
EVER. I love the concept, the sound, everything. Too bad it seems to get
ignored in the grand scheme of ELOdom. Why?!

And I always thought it was
"Remember the goold old 1980s
when things were so uncomplicated..."

my apologies for getting the lyric wrong, seems that "time has
re-arranged " and "had the final word" on my memory banks.

that's what getting old does to you i suppose

I don't even like Hold on Tight that much. I don't understand why it, of all
the songs on Time, IT was the popular one.

My favorite is probably The Lights Go Down, but Rain is Falling and 21st
Century Man give it a run for its money. Twilight and The Ways Life's Meant
to be are really good as well.
*sigh* I like them all.

Time being the be-all and end-all, Balance of Power is probably my second
favorite ELO album, even if it did have such a sad undertone. I like the
*sound* of later ELO better. And Send It stinks.

And I don't remember 1981.

Oh, and as for interpreting lyrics incorrectly, I take the prize. Well,
maybe a close second.

I still swear in "When Time Stood Still" that it DOESN'T sound like "ivory
halls"
(I thought it was angry at first! *covers head*)
I get lyrics terribly wrong all the time. Maybe I should post them all so
you can point and laugh at my lunacy?

Time's my second favourite to Secret Messages (1st).
"When time stood still", "twilight" and "the lights go down" are cool
songs,

I think it's because it was the next album to follow xanadu and it was 'too
hard' for some people to make the jump from discovery to time.although hold
on tight was really popular in australia in 1981.

I also really like the short bits between songs like between twighlight and
2095 and '21st century' and 'hold on tight'

Well, my friend Tony, who was around 21 when the album came out,
thought the main lyric of "2095" was actually "working nine to five"
and insisted on belting this out all the way through the song every
time he'd listen to it. I doubt if his turning forty could make him
much dumber.
