I didn't know Jeff played with dIRE sTRAITS nor he was dead.
When did he played with Dire Straits, where and which songs?
I think Terry was the best, not the most virtuous, simply the most adequated
to that music, maybe he the heaviest.
You have to remember "Twisting by the pool" and those fabulous live
performances on the ALCHEMY.
Pick Withers was another style, very good.
Chris Whitten is (or was) more complicate and rare
Ed Bicknell is the most... funny

I'd like to know who were the drummers (Terry, Omar, ...) in each song on
the Brothers in arms LP, please.

Concerning Terry, you have to remember he played with a welsh band called
MAN from 1970 to 1977.
Today, MAN is playing again (they played on Shepherd's Bush, London,
9-13-1997) and Terry is still in touch with them, but he's not the
drummer...

Thanks

i know for sure that Terry williams played on walk of life...
the rest all sound like Omar Hakim to me including Money for Nothing...

I am pretty familiar with Omar hakims drum kit and it his HiHats are
especially peculiar..
also if you notice the weight on the drums is pretty light as against Terry
williams being pretty heavy..
pay real close attention to So far away and Soldier of fortune..you will see
what i mean..
and finally to compare listen to some sting albums where Omar hakim
played..especially Bring on the night album..you will see what i mean..

Terry became really known because he joined the Dire Straits and appeared on
all the videos and ofcourse who can forget the Alchemy album...

OK, thanks, but I think there must be more songs played by Terry...
The drumming in the songs So far away, Walk of life, One world, Why worry,
Brothers in arms seems from Terry (there are easy)
Ride across the river, Your latest trick and Money for nothing seems from
another one...

i think Terry williams stuck to Dire straits so he became known to be the
one from that album...
i ve heard rumours that mark knopfler was real hard on his
musicians...especially on the drummers.
no wonder almost every album after pick weathers left theres been a new
drummer...including Manu Katche who has been with peter gabriel since
gabriels album SO.

manu played on ON EVERY STREET album.and you can see the identical tones on
the drums between omar hakim and manu katche...well they both have jazz
backgrounds.

heres something interesting!!!!i have a laser of dire straits the videos and
in the songs "THE BUG" AND "HEAVY FUEL" they show Chris whitten playing
drums...who played on the live album "on the night". but theres no mention
of chris whitten on the studio version.....go figure.

also my personal experience is jazz drummers play a lot cleaner than rock
drummers...
the sad part is Omar Hakim and Manu Katche are two of the best drummers
today and they both seem to have gotten completely out of the conversation.
