That's how I took my world exclusive shot of the Beatlestage they
played off August 28, 1964. Btw, I was there for the show. You've seen
it. Thanks for looking.

I can tell you there was certainly coverage for the tennis events. Too
bad I didn't shoot that behemoth CBS/TV truck parked right outside the
place. I swear to god I have never seen a truck that big, then or
since. Cawl it "the Flying Fortress" if you will, but I can tell you
one thing. There isn't an aircraft on earth that could haul that
thing. I'm sure someone at CBS has a picture of it somewhere. Maybe
they even still have it.

It was white, with CBS emblazoned on both sides. And that's how the US
Open Tennis coverage got done. Nothing more, nothing less. Just that
huge monstrosity of humanity. Not to say Howard Cosell didn't stroll
over and say, "Give me a hot dog. There goes awl my goddamn money."

That's how things were done in the 1970's I suppose. Lackadaisically.
Awl the ancients played off that stage. Jimi, Janis, Doors, Who,
Chicago, Beach Boys, Lil' Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross. Even Elton John
paid us a visit one day (awlthough he actually wasn't playing there,
he was playing tennis with Billy Jean King I think she was.)

It's conceivable I could've brought a Reg 8 camera to the Beatles show
that night. They were wound up by hand, I believe. My uncle had one;
there is footage of me around 4 years old. I must say I was the most
*adorable* little tyke. See awl the girls fighting over me.
