If anyone knows does Def Leppard still have a few more CD's that is owed
their record company. Since their recent 2 cd's haven't sold well if their
rcontract runs out it appears that their name along wouldn't be enough to
get another deal. Really said if Def Leppard would have to switch to a
smaller label.

Weather they stay with who they have now or go some place else the end result
won't matter cos record lables aren't gonna give pushes to bands like Lep. X
sucked which may have had something to do with the lack of support but Lep is
seen as nothing more than a washed up 80's band who can't sell shit anymore by
most lables. They'll still sell out concerts based on their name and the
reputation they built as a killer live act through the years but the days of
their records selling millions are over no matter where they end up.

I think thy've got one or two CDs contracted but I don't know for sure. Joe
or Sav said on the official site that they'd have to talk to the record
company abpout its lack of interest, so they may be out of contract sooner.
I think a smaller, more dedicated label would be the best thing that could
happen to them right now.

Def Leppards success in the 80's hepled established their record company and
allowed them to sign other artist. It has taken them this long to figure out
their is no loyality.

Firstly by today's sanders X was still a hit record, no one these days is
really selling as many albums as they did in the 80's. I don't think DL will
loose there contract because all though they are not selling as many records
as the trendy bands they are consistent sellers which what counts. The
record company is not to putting any thing in but they are however small
getting something out. I understand that in some places X soled more that
Euphoria did and the singles defiantly did in the UK.
You may not like X but it isn't a bad album it has had allot of good
reviews sum saying it is there best album since Hystiera. And I like it.

Selling 200,000 copies of an album may have been considered a hit back in the
50's but by todays standards it's a flop. When there are so many other bands
selling millions of records Leps sales with X are poor.

Yes they do consistanly sell but look at the numbers of the last few albums.
These are slaes in the USA. X I know isn't gold yet. I think it's up over
200,000 copies. Slang had sold around 400,000 copies and Euphoria did go
gold(over 500,000 copies sold).

Those are decent numbers considering Lep and Bon Jovi are the only bands from
the 80's to still sell records but given how many people purchase CD's everyday
here in the States the numbers aren't anything that stands out.

The point wasn't to say that X sucked. Maybe X and Euporia could of sold
more copies if their fucking record company put more promo as they do for
some useless rap artist like 50 cent that you know won't be around in a
year. Slang was a very good cd but it had next to no airplay.

Since no one is buying CD's anymore one would think the true test to a bands
popularity would be their live gate (
tickets). From the earlier reports of their current tour Def Leppard not
only stopped playing big venues, they seemed to give up cause they know that
they can't even bring in half capacity. Therefore their record company has
no interest in promoting them.

Meanwhile those faggets Bon Jovi would book stadiums and hockey arenas and
bring a show to town and market it has a big show which would generate
interest which leads the record company to promote whatever crap cd they
have go. Either Def Leppard or their managment or their record company don't
relize this, or see Def Leppard as a washed up old band that is just playing
out the string until their record deal runs out. Therefore how much longer
does their deal have.

X still charted so it was a hit.No band sells much these day compared to the
80's and the early 90's very few sell in there millions and if these had
been promoted as well as X they wouldn't have soled many. As I said earlyer
X was bigger outside America then Euprhoia.

They seem to play mostly the state fairs and smaller outdoor venues in
the smaller towns in North America which is great. However some places
they ain't even drawing half capacity.

Tickets are $40+ with an extra $7 Ticketmaster charge.

I can see that kind of money for the top ten floor rows, but their show
hasn't changed all that much since they left their in-the-round format
behind.

Def Leppard craves some sort of pop status like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, but
they have poor management and a label that doesn't support them.

Def Leppard would kown better then the rest of us if their management
sucks. Seems that even though their management sucks ass the band
doesn't seem to want to do anything about it. They either seem happy
playing state fairs and tired song like Animal thinking their audience
pay their $40 plus bucks to hear the same crap OR they just don't feel
the need to try harder to regain their status and will go through the
motions like other vegas lounge acts living of their past.

Maybe they are trying, but it could be the whole music industry has
changed their tune, making groups like Def Leppard and others look
passé. Or, the band could be quite content the way it is. Too much
change is usually a bad thing. Let the band decide for itself how it
wants to run.
