Thanks for the info!!! :-)
I was nearly to broke my head trying to discover where was Jon playing.
It is actually very difficult to find, because he is not playing the
Hammond.
How did You know that he is playing on this track?
The credits goes as follows:
David Gilmour: Guitars & Vocals
Jeff Poccaro: Drums & Percussion
Pino Palladino: Bass guitar
Ian Kewely: Hammond organ & Piano
With:
Steve Winwood: Piano & Organ
Anne Dudley: Synthesisers
Bob Ezrin: Keyboards
Jon Lord: Synthesiser
Steve Rance: Fairlight programming
etc... (even the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra)
I am writing this just to comment how curious it is that in 1.984 there
was a
clear line in between playing a keyboard, a synthesiser, a Piano, a
Hammond,
an organ, or programming a Fairlight. Nowadays all is integrated; you
can play
everything even in a guitar (with the MIDI pickup attached).
A world appart is the Hammond: I still haven't found a modern keyborard
emulating the crunch tone of it. Maybe because of the tubes. (same with
guitar amps)
Anyway, I think "About face" is a very good album, compatible with all
Purple
tastes.
Cheers,
Manuel.
Cheers!
