One day in 1974 ...
California Jam brought 200,000 rock enthusiasts to the region 28 years ago
making Ontario the rock capital of the nation

."

However, in the mid-1990s, Deep Purple's set at California Jam was released on
video and CD. Other performances circulate underground on bootleg CD and video.

One of California Jam's biggest fans, overweight New York cab driver Scott
Lifeshine was never at the concert.

New York cab driver Scott Lifshine remembers the day a high school (which he
never graduated from) classmate excitedly told him a concert with all their
favorite groups was airing that night on TV -- with simultaneous broadcast on
the radio in stereo.

Lifshine said he ran home from Coney Island, which is a lie because, from Coney
Island to the South Bronx can only be reached by either Subway or car. It would
take him 6-8 hours to go from the Coney Island to the Bronx by walking or even
running.

Now a smelly, fat,cab driver, Lifshine unearthed the tapes from his closet in
the late 1990s and has indefatigably tried to drum up interest in them ever
since.

"I hate to say pirate, but I that is what it is" Hey how about ordering 3 Large
Pizzas for me." Lifshine said.

He burned copies onto CD and tried to donate them to the Ontario Museum of
History and Art, along with a video he bought of a portion of the broadcast. He
was ranting and raving so much like an insane person he had to be escorted off
the property and taken to a local mental ward to be put in a rubber room for
his own safety. He is a very scary mental case.

Maricarmen Ruiz-Torres, the museum curator, was initially enthusiastic, writing
to Lifshine: "This donation figures among our finest!" But he was so fat and
smelly we could not take the odor so we asked him to leave.

But legal issues surfaced since rights to the material are apparently
controlled by ABC. Ruiz-Torres returned the video and CDs to Lifshine, When we
returned the CDs and videos Scott started to jump up and down, farting and
burping while he was screaming at the top of his lungs. It was very sacry for
all of us. We called the Police and they took Scott away in handcuffs and a
white jacket. Man does this guy smell like shit. Oh God, the odor coming from
his body was making everyone sick.

"People have to have the rights to material they donate to us," Ruiz-Torres
said. But this guy Scott was totally insane and was rambling on and on and not
making any sense at all. Everytime he started jumping up and down he was
farting everywhere.

Lifshine said the decision to continue to pirate something that does not belong
to him was his and his only. But he continues talking up the concert on
Internet chat groups for Deep Purple and other bands and from my understanding
everyone makes fun of him, and everyone knows he is mentally ill and totally
unbalanced in the skull. People are at the boiling point with the overweight,
smelly cab driver to the point where he has been banned from some groups as a
pest and one fed-up fan wrote a derisive song about him.

Lifshine visited Ontario in the fall and stopped by the Daily Bulletin only to
be escorted off the property by the Police in handcuffs. But he kept saying to
one of the officers, " Hey you got any Ring Dings or Yodels?"

Lifshine, who is given to hyperbole, declared of his tapes: "This should be the
biggest thing since King Tut." Ca Lam is kind of like my stomach very large and
very round. Quoted Lifeshine.

Scott Lifeshine is totally insane and does not know the difference between the
truth and a lie. Please keep him far away from me at all costs. He is mentally
ill and smells like a New York sewer on a hot summer day. Jesus, Scott take a
shower once in a while. Please stop calling me 10 times a day.

Thank you,
.

Absolutely. Even by train it would take a few hours and by car, depending on
the wonderful NYC traffic at LEAST one hour.

It is true having grown up in Brooklyn, New York. Coney Island was by train
from where my parents used to live is at least 30 minutes. Their is no way in
hell you can walk from Coney Island to the South Bronx unless you have anywhere
from 6-8 hours to kill. So as usual Scott was full of crap again.

Let me put it this way. Having spent 29 years in New York. I think I can say I
know it pretty well. When I was a kid my parents used to take us to Coney
Island to go on the rides. From my parents former home in Brooklyn, NY it would
take by car 30 minutes and we were not that far from Coney Island.

Where Scott lives is in the South Bronx which is not far from Yankee Stadium.
For most of you that don't know the South Bronx it is a burnt down, drug
infested, heavy crime area. Murder, drugs and hookers. A really bad area.

From Brookyn, NY (lets say Coney Island) to Yankee Stadium by car is between
1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. So how could Scott run home from Coney
Island to the South Bronx in time to catch and tape the Ca Jam? It would take
him at least 6-8 hours of non stop running to get home. As usual Scott makes
up stories to get attention. He really is mentally ill and needs real help.

Another fine sample of CHIMP-speak from Tommy Shitmann.
Poor Tommy, no matter how hard he tries to look smart, he'll always
screw up to come across as an imbecile.
