Behind the music documentary which was recently shown on VH1 in the US
has been posted on Youtube. Act fast before Powers That Be(tm) take it
down.
All in all, it is fairly well done, considering the enormity of the
task of covering the 45-year history of the band in 45 minutes. This
is one of the segments that would have benefited from a 90 minute
episode.
Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, Paice, Simper, Hughes, Coverdale,
Derek Lawrence, Michael Bradford, Joe Satriani, and Lars Ulrich were
interviewed for the film, with some interview footage from archives
(obviously, in case of Jon Lord).

know about, including the incidents at California Jam. I recall that I read
about the tragic events in Indonesia at the time, but it was just a short
notice in the newspapeer, and I seem to recall that the notice incorrectly
said that it was a member of the group that had been killed.
The program itself suffered by some clips being repeated too many times in
the programme, but I guess that was need to keep viewers attracted over the
commercials break.

By the way, there was a short clip with Gillan singing "Mandrake Root" -
what occurred to me was that he did not sound very good on that one. But
it was a very short clip.
Personally, I would love to hear the current band do my Mk I favourite:
"Why Didn't Rosemary".

If you can get a copy of Phoenix Rising, which the documentary about
the Mark IV line-up, you'll find more detail regarding the Indonesia
nightmare. Jon refused to play there again. As such, DP never
performed there while Jon was with the band. And I can't say I blame
him. The only member of the current band to know how bad it was is
Ian Paice.
