Random question: Does anyone here get stereotyped as a pothead because they
listen to DMB? I am asking because if 9 out of 10 times, when someone finds
out I like DMB, they ask me if I smoke up. I'm not annoyed, rather amused
actually. I don't ask Hip Hop fans if they drink Cristal or Hennessey...or
Britney Spears fans if they drink Pepsi...anyone else?

No..when they find out I am a DMB fan, they ask me how come I am not
wearing my A&F tshirts.

It is only when they find out I like the Black Crowes, Bob Marley, moe.,
Widespread Panic, the Dead and Willie Nelson do they ask if I smoke up.

Yes, everyone I know ask me the same thing. I get rather tired of people
asking me that all the time, but I don't really care it doesn't matter what
they think just that the music is good.

Agreed it doesn't matter what they think...I just wanted to make sure this
wasn't just happening to me.

If it makes you feel any better, before I had the DMB stickers on my
Blazer (RIP-it's the one we wrecked), I never got pulled over. After I
put them on the back window in July of this year, I was pulled over more
in that 4 month period than I ever had been in my life.

The policemen always got upset when they couldn't find me doing
something illegal. They'd always tell me that they'd had a Blazer
fitting the description of mine stolen, or some bull$h!t story like that.

New car...no DMB stickers on it yet, except for the nancies.org cling.
But I bet when I put another blatant DMB sticker on this car, it will
happen again.

That is weird. My friend has a tie dyed Dead sticker on his car and he
got pulled over a few times...but I have two pearl jam stickers, a black
crowes sticker, a LIVE sticker, a NMAS sticker and a DMB sticker and I
have yet to be pulled over. With my old car, I had two Bob Marley
stickers and never got pulled over either....

I guess the test will come in the spring when I put my moe., Big Head
Todd and Widespread Panic stickers on.

I have a plain old Firedancer sticker on the back of my car, never been pulled
over once cause of that. Althought, I am currently residing in an area where I
don't think anyone knows that the hell a Firedancer is, they just" love Dave
man and have been to six shows and were able to smuggle in some bud light and
got higher than kites off of some crazy weed they bought from a hippy looking
guy wearing the coolest tie-dye ever for $100, and don't really remember the
shows just that they were pissed after sobering up and realizing they had grass
stains all over their A & F jeans cause they were too drunk off three bud
lights to walk straight."

Most of your general "hip hop" fans can't afford Cristal at 200$ a bottle :)

My DMB car stickers saved my car from failing inspection this year, it wasn't
anything big but the guy said the only reason he was passing it was because of
my dmb stickers :)

And yes, I get the pothead stereotype all the time. Actually...I just recently
found out that almost everyone who knows me thinks I do that stuff (even though
it's only been twice)
:-?

All the time, for Phish too. It's a shame, cuz it'd be nice to put some
stickers on my (future) car, but it's not worth the hassle.

Haha! Yeah, it's a real hassle... just cos you happen to have a lit one in

I agree w/you fully. I have a firedancer on my car. People ask if it's a
weed symbol. I'm like, "No, you fuck, it even says Dave Matthews Band on
the outside." But I don't think I have ever gotten pulled over for it...I
think that's for speeding. Liking DMB seems like a very stylish thing to do
right now, anyway, so everyone's on the boat but no one has a clue (except
you all, we're diehards in here).

So instead of thinking all DMB fans are pot-heads, they think we're
shit-heads. At least we can mold our own stereotype. :)
