ARE THEY JUST COINCIDENCES?

Julia Grey -

Woman Dave asked to marry - "I'll Back You Up" written for her... She said
no to him ... "Halloween" the painful wailing of love lost (sort of) was
written for her too (widly speculated) She left him in Charlotte and moved
back to South Africa....

Colden Grey (Ltd) -

The Company Dave Matthews formed early on in the band's history... Which was
publicly availed as a death allusion at the time: "Cold and Grey"

Grey Street -

New song, June 2000. (some rough lyrics)

Oh just sitting while she listens
She says i dont need this pain
it seems a million years she's stuck here
but says nothing of what she thinks
she thinks hey
how did i come to this?

.......

she prays to god most every night
although she swears he doesn't listen
as hoping her that he just might
she says i pray
but then my prayer falls on deaf ears
i'm supposed to take it all myself
to get out of this place

.......

i live on the corner of a dead end street
at the end of the world
.....
she dreams of a way to life
and she knows no one will lift her
so she might as well do it herself
And broke down and worried
???
but oh the colors mix together to grey
on grey street
on grey street

COINCIDENCES? Or does Dave maybe have some unresolved issues?

I'm sure a situation like that can evoke powerful emotions for years. Very
possibly could still be an influence...

I don't know....but if he's still writing songs about his lost love, I feel
sorry for poor Ashley. That would suck, wouldn't it?

OK, I did.... who's David Grey? Does he fit in with the Coincidental DMB
Grey Conspiracy?

Not really. It's spelled David GrAy, not GrEy. He was the first artist Dave
signed to ATO Records I believe, although I don't think he signed him because
his name was Gray.

Or maybe he wrote it a long time ago (or started writing it) and is only now
in a time and place in his life where he could finish it and play it.

He also say "..and I'm feeling gold and grey..." in Rhyme & Reason 2/18/97
D+T.
