GODKILLER directly starts with the title-track that introduces us into
Duke Satanael's realm, using controlled drums and some piano
arrangements at the beginning that get soon accompanied by thundering
guitars and the voice of the master himself which makes "The End of
the World" to an already great song that is even topped by the
following one "The inner Pain" : Strange vocals that remind on some
kind of Satanic Mass paired with doublebass-drumming and once again
astonishing guitar parts which let draw conclusions on Duke Satanael's
influences like SODOM, KREATOR or DESTRUCTION.
"Following the Funeral Path" starts once again with a rhythmic drum
performance that get soon followed by opera-like choir arrangements
and the conjuring voice of Duke Satanael; at the end of this song the
GODKILLER gets a little bit more silent and proclaims the song-title -
really amazing ! The roots of Duke Satanael can also be recognized
during the beginning of "Day of Suffering" that comes - once again -
along in a Trash-like way (so to speak : The complete opposite to the
usual downtuned Black Metal-stuff) and turns to the most-dragging song
on this release afterwards. Coming to the most atmospheric and eerie
song on "The End of the Earth" we can't get around "Nothing left but
silence" that consists of keyboard parts that will make your blood
freeze - the distorted voice of the master himself will do the rest to
keep you in this condition . . .
The seventh song "Still alive" is more one common Black Metal-song
that shows once again traces of old (and therefore fast) Trash Metal
while "Waste of Time" offers us wonderful keyboard parts in the middle
of it, feeaturing GODKILLER's conjuring and brutal voice once again.
Finishing with "De Profundis" (brilliant church bell-samples by the
way) GODKILLER leaves the impression of a nearly perfect debut with
just one failure ("Down Under Ground" which has too many Techno-like
parts in it) and eight songs that range from "good" to "very good".
If this is the end of the world I accept it without any fears - go on,
GODKILLER . . .

throated vocals. They create ethereal atmosphere without being boring.
They offer a comforting darkness, and through the dense layers there
is an underlying hint of hope and a sad yearning for eluded beauty.
Mellow Gothic Darkwave with Bowiesqe vocals and Cool minmal jazzy horn
pieces. This is something that lets your mind drift to unknown places
. Feel the calming sorrow of Death in the eriee acoustic guitars and
the almost machine like drums and percussion. Highly recommend to fans
of darkwave and as well to any who like their music very dark.

Its difficult to make a record of industrial stand out these days, but
this
Valefor disc reminded me of the first time I heard Mental Destructions
'When
Madness Strikes', a very different use of harsh background scree and
noise,
combined with non-beat pounding and slave-drums, fast but not even
close to
being danceable. Intense and intelligent but still effective in a
carnal,
physical way. This is almost Black Metal combined with something like
Merzbow and early Nocturnal Emissions. Stays very clear of all
industrial or
black-metal cliches. Great medieval/alchemical/satanic artwork thats
quite
beautiful in an evil way
