VH1 Seeing the light???

hi,

Er.. what relatively current releases? The newest song on there is
"Snapshot," but it's just a horrible song (Kupper's Funkin' Dub saves it
from HiNRG hell). After that you fall back on another horrid HiNRG song
(hint: HiNRG=Horrid in my book) "Another night" by False McCoys. Whatevah
... if they want classics play "Tears" or "Workout" by Knuckles.
New songs? How about the new Nu Yorican Soul single? How about they edit
a Tori video and show it as "Professional Widow??" All the
possibilities!!! Yet let down. My god show a Pet Shop Boys vid at least.
They have THREE new videos that no one is showing here in the US.

Back in early autumn 1996 VH1 debuted a show called "Party Machine"
which aired at 11:30 PM EST following the RuPaul show. At first it seemed
like a joke, as most of the stuff they played was pre-1992. But it
appears that the response to the show has been incredible and, as a
result, it has apparently been updated and expanded as of this evening (3
Jan 97). It still follows Ru at 11:30 PM EST, but it now lasts for ONE
HOUR and contains both new and old. Here was the playlist for 3 Jan

Basically I was in seventh heaven...a good balance of classics, recent
goodies and relatively current releases. Could it be that VH1 has done
what sister channel MTV still apparently dares not to do? I know that for
many this playlist would not be all that earth-shattering, and perhaps
even disappointing, but when one considers that there hasn't been a dance
show on an MTV network since 1992, this is indeed progress. I say hats
off to VH1 and encourage everyone to contact them with suggestions for
other dance videos to play. We in the dance community in the USA just
might finally get our reward for being so patient.
