An Atlanta, Georgia, woman pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday
to illegally injecting silicone into the rear ends of women seeking
more voluptuous backsides in hotel rooms from Washington to New York.
Kimberly D. Smedley, 45, who made at least $200,000, was charged after
she botched injections in the buttock and hips of an exotic dancer at
an Inner Harbor hotel in Baltimore, according to a plea agreement
reached with the Maryland U.S. attorney’s office and submitted to U.S.
District Court in Baltimore.
The dancer paid $1,000 for the injections performed on a hotel bed and
ended up in a hospital because of the toxic effects of silicone,
according to court documents .
Smedley used commercially available silicone, which is intended for
metal or plastic lubrication or as an additive to paint and furniture
polish.
She used super glue and cotton balls “in an effort to prevent the
silicon from leaking out,” according to the plea agreement signed by
Smedley and her Atlanta-based attorney, Steven P. Bernes.
