Does anyone know what the inspiration is for the song "False Faces" from the
Netherlands? It's one of my favorite songs though I know not what its about.
Sounds like theres a hidden story behind it. Also, does anyone know the lady he
refers to in "Sweet Magnolia"? Just a curious southern boy.

He's referring to his wife at the time Maggie.

I don't know the meaning behind "False Faces," although it is another great
Fogelberg tune.

In regard to "Sweet Magnolia," he says in the boxed set that it is about
courting his first wife. Off of the top of my head, I think her name was
Maggie Slaymaker. Many of his other songs were also written about or for
her--"Believe in Me," "Let Her Go," anything off of the "Exiles" album.

Just for the record, I love "Sweet Magnolia." It has a soaring melody and his
voice is so full-bodied and heartfelt. One of my favorites.

During the "Windows and Walls" tour in Peoria, Dan told the crowd that "Sweet
Magnolia" was a sequel to the song "Beggar's Game", which told the story of when
he first met Maggie....

The night before that concert was also the Charity Softball game, which Pete
Burgess features on his Dan website....all in all, it was 2 very memorable evenings!

The softball game pictures were taken by my brother-in-law, Fred Zwicky,
of Peoria, IL. I sent them to both Pete Burgess' and Wynn Drumm's web
pages. As far as I can tell, Wynn's Fogelberg Stuff page has posted
them, but Pete's page has not posted them yet. I suggest if you would
like to see the pics we speak of, visit Wynn Drumm's Fogelberg Stuff
page. It's a great page, too!!

Wasn't that a fun time? I had great seats, too....just to the first base side,
behind home plate.......

Hi Jim. Thanks for the reference. I do welcome anyone who has not done
so to visit my web page devoted to all things Dan! Pete's page remains
an inspiration. Mine is simply a hobby that I enjoy. Can't think of a
better subject!!!
