Hey, Jack Diamond,

"Biff, The Friendly Purple Bear" first appeared on my UA album, "Dick Feller
Wrote .." which was released a "Loooonnngg" time ago.
However, I stuck it on a solo CD called "Centaur of Attention" that I did
last year.

This is the address for the info on that collection:

There is even some Lo Fi Real Audio of that particular tune.

Thanks for remembering an old song from an old writer and, BTW, ... your
excellent taste in music is quite admirable!

Cheers,

Dick Feller

Yep, Biff was okay, but it ain't my favorite on that album. I still love
the song that said "I sure loved the lady Daisy Hill." Her [ 2 syllable
descriptive word ? ] eyes are burning [ through ? ] me still. I wore that
album out.

Hey, Kinder Gentler Me,

re: "Daisy Hill"

You have a great memory for obscure songs!

This is the chorus:

"Daisy Hill, your velvet eyes are burning through my mind ..
Your quiet lips are smiling at me still.
Though I know that you could never love the likes of me ...
For you're too much of a lady, Daisy Hill."

I stand corrected from when I said that it was on another album. I found a copy
of that one in a cut-out bin at a record store w-a-y back in 1977. The store is
gone now (along with far too many other things and people from that time) but I
still have that LP.

I saw the other post that said the person bought your album back in 77.
That's about the time I bought mine. Shucks, we might have bought it from
the same store because my store isn't there anymore either! What I liked
about Daisy Hill was your guitar picking and the amazing way the guy's dream
was ripped apart. I never saw it coming. It was the same type turnaround
in a song by the pop group Bread called "Diary." I love songs like that.

"Daisy Hill" .... I remember Dick telling an Athens, GA
audience that a song writer is a novelist with no patience.
Those songs engage the intellect, something you don't see in
much modern material. If you can find them (maybe you have
them in your collection as well) see what you think of
"Texas Katie" and "Orphan of the Road." You could say I'm a
sucker for a good story song - and these certainly are.

Hi Dick,

Had to write and thank you again for writing "Biff". I collect recitations
and have over 1000. "Biff" will always be my favorite. The "tree house
tree", "long rope swing", "long days without end" etc. sure bring back the
memories of my childhood. What was your inspiration for "Biff"?

Naturally, I bought your CD and when I heard "A Room For A Boy Never Used"
I was again deeply moved. The descriptive words you use always take me back
in time. Now when I play one, I always play the other.

Thanks for the memories!!!!

I've been searching the internet all afternoon looking for "Daisy Hill" as well as "Jerico Springs". I loved both of those songs. I kept calling it "Daisy Mae" and my 20 year old son heard me and started singing all the lyrics to "Daisy Hill". Where can I find those songs to purchase? Yeah, I know, my son loves the oldies! Mr feller,
Can't believe I just found this old thread... Had an old 8-track tape of yours (Dick feller wrote) back in the 70's and have been trying to find some of those songs for years. Are there any recordings available of daisy hill?

HI Dick Feller!
Just wanted to let you know that your songwriting and musicianship are greatly appreciated and admired. I literally wore out the LP "Dick Feller Wrote". One of my all time favorites is "Daisy Hill". I learned it and every time I perform it live (I have an solo acoustic act), I get a great response and it is an opportunity to tell folks about you. I was wondering if you could shed more light on how you played the intro. I play a simple fingerpicking pattern in C, but I know that is not the key on the record and am assuming you used a capo?
Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you and your talent.
Best wishes for the New Year?
Dee

A shot in the dark, here, as it is now 2018, but my name is Robert Walker, and I have cherished my copy of "Dick Feller Wrote..." for more years than I care to recall, lol.
When I was still working as a radio dj, I often had occasion to play your songs, usually by playing Jerry Reed or Mac Davis first, then highlighting your originals, and this album was often my source.
Proud to say it is still a part of my vinyl Collection, and I still occasionally get to share it with new ears.
Thank you, Mr Feller, wherever you may be today.....
