How is everyone?
I guess we are all looking forward to the new cd (state the fucking obvious
eh), heard a few tracks, 1492 is a killer song looking forward to getting
the complete set

had a somewhat surreal experience on friday. was driving to work a bit
late, listening to radio 2 when terry wogan announced the first play of
the new counting crows song and then played washington square - is that
right? weird choice of first single if it is. it's an ok song but not
classic crows by any means. some of the lyrics would probably strike a
chord (no pun intended) with long-time fans but other than that it
didn't really move me. other tracks are much better. the us single is
you can't count on me - good choice imho.

on here. Knees a bit creakier but still listing to Counting Crows. I am
really looking forward to new CD. Love 1492 best of all the tracks I have
heard so far. Not many of us left here now. Not sure if that is because
everyone has just moved on to the official board or because they have moved
on from Counting Crows. Wonder if Matt and his cookies are still lurking.

Is there any FTP like in the old times to download videos, VCD of
CCs ???

Got my copy yesterday.... It's another solid Counting Crows release
and I won't be too quick to judge it or rank it against the bands
other work. My favorites (so far) are Hanging Tree (love the music,
the lyrics I've already criticized but it still rocks), Los Angeles (I
immediately thought of Goodnight LA because of it's title, but it's
not another piano number it's an awesome southern rock ballad),
Washington Square, Insignificant, Comearound (there was an unmastered
version of this track floating around the web dated March 07, the
track on the CD is the same but it sounds quite a bit better, there is
more bass and fewer highs so I'm guessing this is just the result of
the mastering process.

It seems you have picked up on similar songs from the album as me, I guess I
find that the recent material (with a few exceptions) great where its mostly
Saturday Night, but harder to stay with Sunday Morning, but to be fair ive
always been more about music than lyrics, so I am probably missing big bits
that Adam wanted us to understand (but to counter that I have already bought
3 versions of the album, so he gets his bit from me lol)
As others have said, I think since the last release (and before) we have all
changed, we are always changing (thank god) Just like the bands albums have
changed radically in sytle (and in someways come a full circle with SNASM) I
think our tastes have. (and for most of us our lives have changed radically,
when HC was released my world was starting to disintegrate, now its
completely back together :)
I guess what Im trying to say is that nothing is constant and Counting Crows
where never the same band that they where the day before, I just celebrate
the difference and the change. This CD is great and I believe it will be the
bands last, and when we look back there are definately at least 4 tracks
that will stand up against anything else they have recorded. As you say lets
not rank it, just celebrate it for what it is.

Looks like I'm the only one who likes "Sunday Mornings" much better.
Wonder what our attitudes will be after listening to the songs for a
couple of months.
