Database of stolen musical instruments - ideas needed

Note that this has been cross-posted to various UK music newsgroups. I hope
it is of relevance to all groups but my apologies if not.

Following various threads on the uk.music.folk ng, I have been putting
together some ideas for a web-based database of stolen musical instruments
that could form a central point for people whose instruments have been
stolen as well as dealers presented with second-hand instruments.

I need to get feedback from people within the musical community so that the
system can be as comprehensive as possible. The feedback received so far can
