Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
when comparing Christian bands to secular bands, you always have slew of
people either responding with "These comparisons suck, let the bands
stand on their own", or fans of the secular comparison saying "no, they
don't sound at all like them" (anyone who thinks DC Talk sounds like any
of the current rap/hip-hop artists gets a lot of disagreement from me, i
think they just sound like Backstreet Boys). anyway, i think that Plumb
have a similar sound to Garbage. they're not a Garbage clone, but i
think fans of one can appreciate the other.

Hey, you might want to check out a group called Mortal, particularly the
album "Fathom". Sadly, they are no longer together, but the members formed
the group Fold Zandura although Fold's music has little resemblance to
Mortal's. Some other possibilities are the new Skillet ("Hey You I Love
Your Soul") or anything by Circle of Dust.

none of those arguments have anything to do with the sound

exactly. it's called opinion. live with it
> Anyway dc talk is way better.
the only good thing i can say about dc talk is that they do christian
music and give people positive messages. the music of both dc talk and
bsb make me ill.
okay, as much as i dislike them, i'll admit to this (kinda like
everything Chicago recorded after "15"... great talent, but absolutely
unappealing sound to me)
> And their music is nothing similar to BSB.
again, this is opinion. i find the sounds very similar, even tho dc
talk were around long before bsb
> The Boys do weak pop and can't seem to come up with any
> topics beyond romance.
again, subject matter and sound are two distinctively different
subjects, and i don't understand why people argue about lyrics when i
say two bands sound similar
> DC Talk has deep lyrics and is much more diverse in style,

> perfectly fine.
yeah, that's your cup of tea, and it's great that you drink it. i never
said that other people shouldn't enjoy whatever music they want to
> Not everyone LIKES the sound, but that's no reason to say you are
> made "ill" by it. I do not like hymns at all, but I'm not going to say, "Yeah,
> hymns have Christian words, but they make me sick when I hear them."
well, it's just an expression, and i don't really think it's as unfair
as you're suggesting. after all, there are many preists and 'moral
majority' leaders who seem to want to outlaw many modern styles, and say
things like "i heard a song by Metallica and it brought bile to the tip
of my tongue". if metal sickens them, i won't argue with them, it's
their preference. this top40 schtick sickens me, with very few
exceptions. at least i'm not using putdowns, profanity or braindead
cliches, which is what i usually see when people are criticizing (sp?)
music they dislike. also, it's not 100% figurative. i remember hearing
a bit of a DC Talk song on the radio once, and i literally felt sick to
my stomach because of the sound, which IN MY OPINION was candy coated
fluff, with a thin 'alternative' mask. lyrical content has absolutely
nothing to do with any of this.
i don't understand why this has turned into such a thread. i'm trying
to push the 'just an opinion' and stuff, but if this keeps up the ng
will start accusing me of being the newest troll. please accept opinion
as opinion. but if you insist on furthering this discussion, and if it
would make you feel better, here's some bands i like, and you are free
to say a few bad things about them. i know it would make me feel
better. Klank, State of Grace. Chatterbox, MxPx, the Furies, Steve
Tayler (ON THE FRITZ!!!!), johnny q public, Plumb, Jason Underground,
FOME, just to name a few.
