So while dumping old email (I let it sit for awhile if I'm not sure I
want to delete it or save it) I came across my Ringo experiments from
late last year. Ringo, you will recall, is the magic music taste
predicting program of MIT. It went down in December or so, and I promptly
forgot it. I had never gotten it to predict my tastes, because it said
there weren't enough participants out there like me. I was flattered.

I tried it again. It worked, sort of.

Ringo said I should try:

Brian Eno
Vangelis
Crash Test Dummies
Monty Python
Front 242

I hate two of these, and kind of hate another one.

Ringo said I should avoid:

Two Live Crew
David Lee Roth
Cher
Weird Al Yankovic
Jean-Michel Jarre

I like three of these.

I should note that Ringo's confidence in all of its prognostications was
"low", except for Weird Al. It did get that one right. I should avoid
Weird Al Yankovic.

"Now your nucular physicists, they's mighty smart. They can chop them
little nuculars like I'd split kindlin'. But they's gonna come a day
when the Lord's gonna ast 'em a question. He's gonna ast 'em, 'You
pretty smart, ain't you?' And they's gonna answer, 'Yessir, I reckon I
am.' And he's gonna ast 'em, 'Well if you so smart, how come your name
ain't in this here Book o' Life?' And you know somethin'? They ain't
gonna be able to answer that question and on that very day they gonna
be wailin' in sorrow and they gonna be GNASHIN' THEIR TEETH!"
