There was an SNL type skit at the beginning of the VH1 Men Strike Back
concert. Celine was auditioning D'Angelo to be in the concert. A naked
D'Angelo was singing, and Celine said that she has always wanted to do a
duet with a naked black man. So she went up to the stage, stripped, and
took over D'Angelo's song, "How Do I Feel". It was hilarious. I would
recommend watching the beginning of the concert when VH1 repeats it.

I just watched the tape I recorded last night. It is hilarious!!! I was
laughing to death. Isn't it the same woman that did the SNL skits?

All of the skits made me laugh, but because I
love Celine so much I found the one where they
spoofed her particularly funny. Ana Gasteyer has
her vocal patters down so well! When she said
"Let's tear the roof off this sucker!" and did
that gesture with her arms, I thought I was going
to fall on the floor I was laughing so hard. I
hope Celine finds those amusing as well. I'd
like to think she has a good sense of humor about
herself. Just had to put my opinion in. I have
a feeling I'll be doing that a lot more now.
Hope you guys don't mind!

More soon

She certainly does. At her concert at MSG two years ago she had Ana Gasteyer
make an appearance with her. She just popped up through the stage behind
Celine and started immitating her voice and the way she claps on her arm. The
whole audience as well as Celine was laughing.

I never knew that Ana showed up at that concert. I don't recall anyone
mentioning it. I found out by watching a show on Celine (forgot which one!).
LOL, that clip was soooooo funny!

Celine, "I'm gonna love you 'All The Way'!"

Yeah, there were 2 shows at MSG (two nights in a row if I recall correctly). I
was at the first one and she made an appearance at that one. I can't confirm
whether or not she was at the second one.

I was at the 2nd show, and she wasn't there.... I would have loved to have seen
the two together!! I get the impression Celine doesn't really like the
skits... but is a good sport and laughs them off.

I agree. I highly doubt Celine tapes every SNL where the "Celine Dion Show" is
aired. She probably finds them kind of annoying, but what's she going to do?
Start bitching and whining and suing people over it? She knows none of them
are meant to be offensive so I think she just laughs them off and tries to have
a good time with the whole thing.

I didn't like the skit, because I like and respect Celine, and it has
caused me to see things differently. I have watched every SNL episode in
existence over the years. I notice that the show is has basically become
more a platform for put-down platform than satire. I figure that my opinion
won't change anyone's views, but I can't help but see such "performances"
as cheap shots when they attack someone like Celine, whom I regard as a
decent person, devoted wife and hard working person. Like any fan, I know
what Celine has said on this subject before, and I think it is as you say,
she has no choice but to laugh it off. But I can't seem to get over the
feeling that Ana Gastyer makes her living by redicule and not satire (which
typically would have social awareness as its goal). Although comedians
don't usually apologize, they sometimes should.

I agree it was absolutely hilarious! I was ROFLMAO through the whole
skit...I don't know why some people are offended by it, Celine certainly is
not.

Hmm I really don't get the feeling that Celine doesn't like them. She has said that
she thinks of it more as honor to be popular enough to be "made fun of" on SNL than
an insult. Celine seems like she's pretty good at laughing at herself. If she
didn't like the skits she certainly wouldn't invite Ana Gasteyer to one of her
concerts. I know if SNL parodied my life I'd laugh.

Anyway I agree Celine probably doesn't tape them, but not because she finds them
annoying but because she's not vain enough to tape every time something about her
is on tv.

I know this has nothing to do with what we're talking about, well maybe it
does..but did yuo see the skit in the middle of the show where Cheri OTeri was
doing her impression of that reporter, I can't remember her name..lol, doing
the Ricky Martin inteverview and she was like 'you're lying in bed, and you
roll over..whos there? Me, or hugh downing..?
It was too funny
"I'd like to run away from you.
But if I were to leave you
I would die
I'd like to break the chains you put around me..
and yet I'd never try."

As for me, I didn't see it. I had no reason to watch Men Strike Back.

As for the SNL parodies of Celine, I think Mariah Carey gets just as bad
a treatment from Cheri Oteri. Mariah's portrayed as someone who cares
more about her physical appearance than anything else in the world,
including her vocal ability (a case of art imitating life, perhaps?).
If you saw the infamous "So This Is Hanukkah (sp?)" skit, you'd see
Mariah was skewered much worse, or at least that's what I thought.

Chuck (who is not offended by Ana Gasteyer's Celine impersonations)
