I have been lurking for quite a while on this newsgroup, just waiting
untill I had something interesting to say...I think it's time... :)

I've been a huge fan of Celine since "The Colour of My Love" (I had
never heard of her before then, but if I had, I would have been a
fan...). And lately, I've been trying to figure out how to explore
her older stuff, too. (ie: pre-Columbia).

Anyways, it's kind of interesting that, while I think her newest
album, "Falling Into You," is her best (at least in English), her
associated look, imho, is the worst. The unnaturally-coloured, short
hair; the gobs of purple lipstick and eye makeup; and the (dare I say
it) sluttly outfits in which she has been making appearences are not
at all flattering to her.

In fact, the only time that she was looked good since the release of
"Because You Loved Me" was at the Olympics. Her hair, while still
coloured, had grown longer again and was without that weird parting.
Her face was free of overly colourful makeup. Her outfit, while quite
tight (that's not really a bad thing) was without the weirdly cut
neckline and leather pants (yay! She wore a skirt!).

The way I see it, her best look was in the time of "Unison" -> "Celine
DIon." Her long, curly hair was much better suited to her face (the
short cut over-accents her strong nose and chin). You could actually
see her face (which is really very pretty), as it wasn't covered in
makeup. Her outfits (while now quite passe) made her look much
younger and more innocent, more of the hopeless romantic that her
songs seem to portray her as. (And that I find so much more
attractive.)

For "The Colour of My Love" -> "D'eux," it seemed that her look became
more mature and distinguished. While I preferred the older look, this
one looked fine, and also fit her music and her stature, as they too
became more mature and distinguished.

And then, the newest look...Blech!

I was thinking that perhaps this was related to her natural aging.
Maybe she figured that she simply couldn't do that young and simple
look any more. So, it was decided to make her "sexy" again with the
use of all these hideous tricks I've already mentioned. But I ruled
that out when I saw bits of the "Falling Into You" video. When she
puts on that long-haired wig, "I gotta tell you, it's amazing!" She
loses 5 or 10 years just like that!

So, to sum up...Celine is an amazing singer (my favourite!)...Celine
is beautiful...Celine's new look sucks. Yay, for the old look! (To
see what I mean, just look at the (aptly-named) "Beauty and the Beast"
video.)

(This, of course, is just my opinion, and I'm sure I'll hear yours
soon...) :)

Nah, I think she looked the best in her life at the olympics....
You know she had to grow up and all that hair made her look like a
little girl. When she was young (13yrs old till she changed) that's
how her style was long hair. She was very plain. Now she looks
magnificent....Her worst hair do was the bright orange short hair...
eewwwwww awful........

I disagree with you. Although, the BYLM video look wasn't all that
great, I think she looks good on the cover of "Falling Into You" and
she looked great at the Olympics. I think her look that she had on
"Celine Dion" made her look way too young and it was more of an
'80-ish look. I agree with you that I her hair at this length is good
but she looks better overall now then she did back then. I also like
her hair color at the Olympics best so far. If she went back to her
previous look, it would look like she was going back to the 80's and
long, permed hair is just hard to keep looking healthy.
Anyway, I was just going to say that I got tickets to the Kansas
City concert and I'm SO excited, I know it'll be awesome!!

Celine's the sexiest woman alive!

Saw her in concert in Philadelphia on July 30.
She looked and sounded in top form but i still like the long hair.
She looks like she is trying to grow it back
