Does Celine really have a five octave range? I was listening to some of
her songs where she goes particularly high or low and, from what I could
tell, she only displays about a three octave range and maybe not even that
much.
I was wondering, in which songs does Celine go the highest or lowest? For
the highest notes, I listened to "Refuse to Dance," and for the lowest
notes, I listened to "Danse Dans Ma Tete." Any other suggestions for high
notes or low notes?
While I enjoy Celine's voice, I think that Mariah Carey tends to display
more vocal range (although when she does some of the squeakers it gets a
little ridiculous).

She has the range, but that doesn't mean that she has to prove it to
anyone, whether on records or live, by singing the lowest or highest
note.

Do people care about singers having a wide octave range? I know that I don't.
I think the original author who wrote about this business is confusing operatic
with popular singing. 'Coloratura' is a box of crayons to most folks.
Celine will sing the songs she likes. I doubt that she would reject one
that appeals to her because of a high or low note. Although in general, it is
wise to avoid such songs because extensive touring can strain the voice
to the point where the singer is temporarily unable to 'hit' the high or low
note.

Actually I don't really "care" how big Celine's range is because I like
her singing, but I think it's an interesting question as to which songs
have her highest and lowest notes... Any takers on that question?

Hi! Celine also sings low notes in Send Me A Lover.

I'm a BIG fan of Céline dion and I'm studying voice with aprivate
teacher. Céline like you say likely doesn't have a 5 octave range..
however as a technician, she is the best..she has a powerful and energetic
voice, that displays a complete profiency in breathing, and strong vocal
chords. she might have a 3 octave range. In "le ballet", "je danse dans
dans ma tete", "only one road", she alternates brillantly between low
and high notes.

I love Mariah also, but her high notes are usually screams
where she tends to force her vocal chords..when you are doing a high note
like the AH-Ah-Ah in the end of "emotions", your vocal chords are as
thin as a peace of paper, try to make air coming out of that...boy,
you are in HEAVY shit..I've heard that two years ago, she had clums that
were formed in her throat because of those high notes, so she tends to
do less of those in her last album...
Love..Serge.
