Just got this one (SACD). What a sound! Like hearing the Byrds for the
first time, all over again.

I'd like to have what this gentleman ordered. Please tell me more. What

Super Audio CD (SACD) was a Sony innovation to get high quality sound
into the CD format. I don't know the technical aspects but it has an
increased bit rate. Unfortunately 1) the format really hasn't caught
on 2) they only play on players (usually high end units) that support
this format.

Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (MFSL) have made a reputation for high
quality re-mastering. They have re-mastered NBB and MTM from the
original mono masters and created SACD hybrid discs. (They will play
the SACD layer on a SACD player, but will also play the CD layer on
conventional CD players. I haven't listened to the regular CD layer,
bur I expect it sounds fabulous as well.
