Hey thanks for the calendar. Went to the Gary Newman show this past May (he
was even better!), but wow The Fenix really puts you through the ringer, or
maybe I'm just a complainer, but jeez guys, after waiting in line outside
for over an hour being pretty close to the door, there was only about enough
places for 30 people to sit down. The rest of us hundreds had to stand for
hours and hours (or dance), but this wasn't that kind of show. Boy, not
even a long back bench against the wall or something, but I'm still glad I
got to see Gary Newman after all these years. I wish more clubs could be
like the old Catalyst in Santa Cruz though. They had lots of tables, back
benches, "architechtural" seating, and a dance floor. Down the block from
there is where I saw DEVO for the first time. It was in the Civic
Auditorium. The Santa Cruz Civic was like a big gym, with bleachers on
either side of an open floor in front of the stage. Lots of space to sit
down, if you had to, (Like after Pogoing into a lather) AND you didn't have
to wait til midnight to see the show. I was so close to the stage I could
feel Mark's sweat. The guys were intense. I went away with energy. Devo
infused my soul, and it's been that way ever since. I miss those times, and
those clubs.
