Has anyone here ever heard of a version of 'I Feel Love' (originally by
D. Summer & Georgio Moroder) by the Butthole Surfers? I believe it was
recorded in the mid-eighties, and I think that Diamanda Galas was the
vocalist. From what I understand, their version of the song was never
released, although I have heard rumors of unauthorized versions.

Any information would be appreciated.

I don't think that's true. It sounds like a rumor-variation about their
cover of Heart's Barracuda. Back in '86-'87-ish King told me they had
recorded Barracuda with Sandra Bernhardt. The plan was to release a 12"
with a disco mix on it. I think he said a Spanish language version was also
recorded. When they play the tape for friends, they'd say they liked it,
but then the Surfers would hear second hand that people thought it sucked.
So they scrapped it.

oh yeah! wasn't that associated with THE BRIDGE (that Neil Young tribute album)?
I only have the vinyl, but I thought the Surfers track was either a CD only
bonus, or a Euro-only bonus.

Never heard about that. When did they do it? I'm sure there's a zillion
things they recorded when they lived together in Driftwood, TX (or wherever
it was), that we'll never get to hear :(

yes, Diamanda did record the song with Butthole Surfers she told me it was amazing but she was conflicted as Donna was a homophobe and Diamandas brother was gay. This converstation took place in 1988 over dinner at an indian restaurant accross the road from Mute Records in London. I have often wondered if the tape survived as she had decided to destroy it. Let me know if you find it I would love to hear it.
