Hey i really like bush. I'm having a hard time understanding the lyric to
glycerine though. What does that title mean?

There are a TON of different interpretations...Personally, I'm not sure of the
exact meaning, but the one I've heard the most is like this...Glycerine is an
explosive chemical. So it's like, his relationship with this girl, his
"glycerine" could just explode at any minute and get all fucked up. So he must
enjoy every minute with her. ("Don't let the days go by...") I'm not sure how
accurate this is, so nobody jump on me if I'm way off here. =) This is just
what I've heard over and over and over...

Well.... that would all make sense.... if glycerine were an explosive
chemical. But Glycerine is nothing as it is spelled. I don't know if Brits
spell it different, but glycerin is a lubricant and fairly inert.
Nitroglycerin is an explosive chemical, but glycerin and nitroglycerin are
two different materials altogether.

Well, I feel like an idiot now...=) Sorry, I've never known much about
anything science-related. I was just repeating what I had heard, and now I feel
like a typical blonde. lol =)

Glycerine is most often used as a facial moisturizer...it's supposed to make
you look much younger.

Glycerine is also transparent. so, when you think about the song and its
relationship, the transparency fits right it, because its all about
stuff people dont see.

I have this interview cd with the band and Gavin says that although it's
obviously open to interpretation, he got it from nitroglycrin [sp?], an
explosive.

Which would make sense because nitro-glycerine is the "sweat" from
dynamite, making the useful tool a deadly weapon.

no no no no no! Gavin wrote Glycerine cuz he was bored and stoned.

Okay so I am just kidding but I bet you at least one of those is partial truth.

Yah, thats probably it. its kinda like putting depth into Kurt Cobain
lyrics. When you make them up five minutes before you record, any
meaning is by chance, not by careful planning and thought.

Yes, the band was loud, and they sounded good. are Kurt sang melodically
sometimes, and there were alot of emotions in his music. but no thought.

No Thought? Hmm.....I am going to have to go with LizardKing on this
one.....because you guys who say Kurt's lyrics had no "depth" or "thought" dont
know jack-shit. Most of all, you guys aren't even in a band. And how do I know
this? Yes dipshits, I am in a band [close to 5 years now] so I would say it is in
YOUR best interest to sit down and shut up!

After 3 boring minutes, Jabroni KNOW YOUR ROLE AND SHUT YOUR DAMM MOUTH!

Where the hell do you get off saying shit about my band! If you were in a band [with your attitude, I don't think any band would want you] then i would shut my mouth, but what I am going to do is just watch your stupid reply to this message because I know you don't want to start anything. I am sorry if we don't live up to your expectations, because we don't play big arenas like alot of bands, but hey we play clubs (here and there), so yes, we are still local, but NOT GARAGE!! Another thing, bitch, I have two guitars (with all 6 strings fucker), which I can proudly say I can tune by ear. I have been playing guitar for 5 years and although I am "not no Santana/Jimi Hendrix" guitarist, I know [judging from your response] I know more than you. Look I am not saying I am the better than everyone but I know I am better than you in interpreting and playing music. I would probably have 6 guitars but I would rather use the money for something more useful, you know,... something that YOU DON'T have:  A college education! Music is my life, yes, but being in a band is a hobby [for now] and when I get out of college, then my band will be my number one priority. One last thing, how about using your real name, maybe then I might respect your opinion, [What is your opinion, by the way?] IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOURS IS!  ("Dr. Fresh" )

[Now I await you reply which I know will sound like "10 lbs. of monkey crap in a 5 lbs. bag!"]

So some of Kurt's lyrics didn't make any sense or have a point ect (ie: smells
like teen spirit) but others did and others he took time to write. He was
still a very talented person and without him a LOT of other bands (incuding
bush-duh) wouldn't be around.

Wow, youre in a band AND have 2 two guitars??? wow. i mean come on.

Im going to be the bigger man here, and not say something like "oh yeah,
well i LIVE the rock and roll dream etc. etc." im not going to compare
my material items with you.

You are obviously what is wrong with the "guitar-playing" public. You
think you are so good just because you have played for 5 years? whats
that supposed to mean? Ive heard guys that have played for 6 months that
blow about guys who have been playing all of their lives. So that doesnt
impress me at all.

Am i supposed to believe that because you drop names like Santana and
Hendrix, that THATS going to impress me? Let me guess, you are a big SRV
fan? BB King and you play a nice little imitation strat? or you like
Mettalica and Korn and own a dinky little ibanez copy?

Please. guitar players come a dime a dozen. dont try to think you are
anything special.and in case you didnt know, listen to some REAL guitar
players, like Vai, Jennifer Batten, Micheal Hudges and Satriani.

Oh, and why dont you take a little icy/hot, and rub it all over your
college eduction and then stick it STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY ass. thats for
all my boys in the APWW.

Sure, i think Nirvana did something new, and i liked them (but never
bought any albums). They had some catchy tunes etc. etc. but if i was to
choose somebody to be "the voice of our generation" it woulnt be Kurt.
If anything I would Choose Eddie Vedder (not because i agree with his
views) but that he is a well spoken individual.

one last thing....[cause your replies seem to get dumb by the minute] what do you know about the "guitar playing public"?--If you don't play guitar yourself-- .... And NO I don't listen to ANY of THOSE bands you said I do. "Vai, Jennifer Batten, Micheal Hudges and Satriani." please .....[like these guys are any good]
[and you think you impress me?] look what I mean "and rub it all over your
college eduction"   *You know, if you would have spelled the word right then I'd be quiet but I am not*

....and you say all this crap, yet you dont use your real name?   how very convient....
let's give him a big round of applause to "Dr. Fresh"......[!!!!]

Nirvana was an influence, but I still think Bush would definitely be
around if they hadn't existed. If Nirvana hadn't been the first grunge
band, some other band would have been.

Nirvana wasn't the first grunge band!! there were many before them, eg.
Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone... A band called Green River,
consisting of members of Pearl Jam and Mudhoney, was apparently the first
grunge band. Nirvana just happened to be the first to become commercially
successful....

glycerine is about the relation ship between gavin rossdale and his
ex-girldfriend "Jasmin". As you can see in the song lyrics, the relation was
conflictive and distant, although he loved her a lot, you know.
