Wondering what is recommended as an inexpensive MiniDisc recorder...
Previously had a handheld cassette recorder with the ability to control the
recording volume, unfortunately lost and it seems this feature has been
discontinued on every model available... My original recorder was obtained
for $30, I'm told the only cassette recorders with this feature are high end
versions selling for upwards of $200.. At this price I would probably be
able to get a Mini Disc recorder for cheaper than that, so I was wondering
what would be recommended... please reply via email if possible. Thanks in
advance..

That's nonsense, you can't hear any difference at all.

You should wait for a cool MP3 player like the Nomad Jukebox (nomadworld.com).
It has 6 GB of memory which is about 100 cds worth. The mini-discs are really
cool but won't last with the improving MP3 players.

In article <20000808024854...@ng-fh1.aol.com>,

Recordable?

And even if it was recordable the sound of mp3 sucks compared to
minidisc (not to mention DAT).

piecses of crap when it comes to construction and quality!!

all the mp3 plers i have seen are made from cheap plastic
MD's on the other hand use metal allows.......

MD's are a lot more durable then mp3 players too....

ummm...sorry, actually, i can. Sharps have a more didjital (jamiroquai
reference) sound, generally with more artifacts. Sonys, OTOH, have less
artifacts and are warmer and more natural. Sharp ATRAC 6 is def. worse than
sony ATRAC 4.5 with Type "R" DSP. feel free to ask any golden-ear

MiniDisc is phenominal! Once you start editing discs, you'll wonder
what you ever did before MiniDisc.

As for Sony MD Walkman... search around and you will find great deals
(under $200) on models such as the MZ-R37 and MZ-R55 which record.

I don't wanna start a "DAT VERSES MD" war but MD does indeed have it's
advantages--- even over DAT--- in the editing and instant track access
(and AFFORDABILITY).

Keep in mind that, for the price of a portable DAT recorder (approx
$700?), you may be able to get a MiniDisc recorder (for $200) PLUS a
Tascam Pro CD Recorder (for $505 at www.oadebros.com).
