Living in the 21st Century 2
Living in the 21st Century ain’t bad. There’s lots to do. We have so much history to look back on. I think of all the musical albums from the last 40 odd years I’ve owned over the years, and as the years pass that legacy builds. The other day I noticed that life is not history in some ways. It’s addition. When things last in life, which continue to get produced, classic albums, classic novels and movies – and when you revisit them – life is not so much history advancing but history building. The 21st century has a plethora of culture from the 20th century especially which it is built on – and that 20th century culture and technology still goes on quite a lot of it. Living in the 21st Century in this sense is still living in the 20th century – and all the centuries prior to varying degrees. Advancing with life I feel, to get value out of what you have gone through, is appreciating, recording and keeping that history. And as time passes and your legacy of life culture and product builds you have a better world inevitably, especially if you take the quality offerings from this 21st century culture to add to your life. Living in the 21st century is fraught with so many special interest groups and new views on life which have emerged, and there is so much conflict and argument. But the key is to find those things in the culture you identify and agree with and concentrate on them, and not let the other stuff get you town. The 21st century – a wonderful time to live.
