Does anybody knows if Stevie Ray Vaughan covered once Jimi Hendrix's Hey
Joe?

If so, can you send it to me in MP3

thanks,

Um, excuse the pedantic reply. But Billy Roberts is credited as writing "Hey
Joe", a song which has been covered so many times it's probably worth its
own museum.

Sorry I can't help with the Vaughan version though.

Wouldn't surprise me if Stevie covered it at one time or another,
knowing his fondness for the Hendrix vibe. Whether it ever made
it to tape though is a good question. I'd like to hear it, too,
if it did.

Good version was done by Buckwheat Zydeco a few years back.

I have the Roy version too, & I agree..it's killer. I was lucky
enough to see him perform it live in '86, & he just flat wailed
it....awesome stuff!

The man was an awesome but unsung talent. I agree that his Hey Joe was good,
but my favourite from that album, in fact my all time favourite RB
performance, is the studio version of Roy's Bluz. Beautiful piano intro,
soulful vocal and then the killer guitar solo. I don't reckon it gets much
better than that.

I was lucky enough to see him 5 times here in Sydney, & he was always in top
form, but the stuff he was doing on stage around the time of When a Guitar
Plays the Blues was on a level that very few players ever get to.
Unbelievable.

Sorry, I've never heard SRV play "Hey Joe", but there's a seriously
smokin' all acoustic burn of it on a Jerry Douglas cd. ( Jerry Douglas,
dobro; Tim O'Brien, guitar and vocal; and Sam Bush, mandolin. ) But the
disc is good country and bluegrass, not blues.
"Joe" makes a great workout for new guitar players, 'cause it uses
the five major chords that don't need the "bar shape" to form them
( CGDAE ). It also features the same lick found in Zep's "Whole Lotta
Love".

Good for you, but you failed to answer the question. I understand you had to say you saw him live though.
