I was wondering if the songs "Rank Stranger" and "You Are My Flower"
are in the public domain or if one has to pay to be able to record
these songs.

Anybody know?

Thanks, David

There is a list of traditional songs (public domain) at:

http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/bluegrass-songbook/idxv13as.htm

Rank Stranger is among them.

Thanks Mitch.

I've got a small recording studio set up and looking for a few PD
songs to practice with and post on the net before I try songwriting.

Song writing is it? LOL! Before you start lay in 3 books. First a good
thesaurus, The songwriters Rhyming Dictionary by Sammy Cohen, and last Do
not just read but MEMORIZE "The Craft of Lyric Writing" by Shelia Davis.
It will save you a lot of grief. With it you can write from the sorta
normal :)

First she broke my old Zippo lighter
Then she lost my Grandma's wedding band
Ran over my still, with my coupe deville
And came to rest on my old hound dog Dan

To the totally bizzare:

The witch's dream is endless you can hear that mournful sound
As the darkness wraps about you, hear the wail of Satan's hounds
Down pitch black halls a demon calls at the devils you will scream
There's no escape, no road to take, when your lost in the Witch's dream

Isn't that cheery? LMAO!

Good Luck,

Mitch

OK, but maybe I will take the route of fewer words and more cowbell.

David (It may not be your favorite song but it has a lot of the same
notes)
