He was a singer for BS for a minute. He came after Ian and before Hughes.
Never recorded with the band.

He was a heavy metal singer/male model whom Sabbath hired to replace Ian Gillan
in 1984/5. He lasted about the length of one Kerrang! magazine photo shoot
(which I think I still have somewhere). He is most remembered today for the
giant belt buckle he wore in the photo shoot that was made out of an old door
knocker. Very comical. Hell, I would have fired him just for wearing that in
the photo shoot!! But I seem to recall reading an interview with one of the
other Sabs who said Donato couldn't really cut it as a Sab vocalist. As far as
I know, he never actually played with Sabbath beyond a few rehearsals.

If I recall correctly, he went on to form the band White Tiger with ex-Kiss
guitarist Mark St. John. They put out one album that stiffed and Donato hasn't
been heard from since. I suppose he went back to modeling or something like
that.

Yes, but what did he sound like, and what were his credentials before that
short stint. Why didnt he record?(I'm sure the obvious reason was Tony didnt
think he could cut it live, or was just not a good singer in general)

Sounds like he (David Donato) should forget about a career in music... as well
as someone else that comes to mind... Michael Bolton. Hahahahaha

Mark St. John wasnt much of a guitarist from what I remember either. They
should have made it BIG. Hahahahaha.

I actually have that White Tiger album on vinyl...bought it at a used record
store for like 2 bucks just because I'm a KISS fan. The band is Donato,
Brian Fox(drums), Mark St.John, and Mark's brother Mike Norton(Mark's real
last name) on bass.

I've got the cassette version of the White Tiger album. I wish
someone would put it on cd. I quite like it but I don't think Donato
would have been a good fit for Sabbath.

He's the singer who will be in all the spotlight and media glitz during the
ceremony once Black Sabbath gets elected into the Rock n Roll HOF..

Didn't he move on to the band White Tiger after that?

Don't know. I never followed his movements after his Sabbath "career" for lack
of a better word.

How about "Brief Career." He lasted about as long as Dave Walker.

The CD reissue is due out soon, with one track remixed by Michael Wagner.

Dave Walker was in about three weeks and did the BBC TV show performing the first version of Junior's Eyes.
Was Donato in that long? I was under the impression that he was in just long enough to get a press promo picture taken
and then when the Kerrang interview came out Sabbath immediately denied the vocal position filled.
