Im tired of bands like immortal going back to the roots of metal. There are
plenty of old school death metal bands that have come out with records and
the last thing i need is another old school technical deathmetal band. why
dont these bands take music further then ever before instead of going
backwards to stuff that has already been done. If you try to copy the
classics you'll always sound second best to them

I don't think Immortal went back to their roots...
The new album sure is their best IMO...

And why not go back if a band wants that... It's their music..

i would agree with the destruction/kreator ripoff bands..but immortal??
ATHOW is a masterpiece and i haven't heard any old-school bands sound
like them.

A masterpiece? hmm Sounds like Immortal playing weak "epic" rock n roll songs
to me.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Sapho that
thoughts acquire speed - The lips acquire stains - The stains become a warning
- It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

I think he means "only" that they are all hearkening back to the past,
rather than "moving ahead into the future," although when most people
say that they mean "moving ahead into the future sounds made from the
rock n roll schlock of yesterday."

Immortal fucking rules. Most of the real ripoff bands are so obviously
derivative that to not notice is to have existed in a vacuum for many
years of the originals, and their progeny giving credit!

Hey! Rampage resembles that remark....

I'd rather hear people clone Venom than clone Deicide....

Yeah, but as you say when most bands "move ahead into the future" we get
mindless DROSS like the new Samael, new Satyricon, etc etc where metal
musicians who patently have very little grasp of decent electronica
attempt to incorporate elements of hi-technology sounds into their songs.
I think the only band who've managed to successfully blend the two genres
this year is probably Dodsheimgard.

Yes.

So, it seems, are the Svartedaun wannabes.
What a truly horrifying concept.

are you calling me a Svartedaun wannabe?
you piece of shit! remember you live in the southern hemisphere! Svartedaun is
a complete anal rammer. So what if he likes darkthrone? All he does is ramble
about his stupid art wank bands from NorGAY. His band chugs down massive
amounts of alien semen too. I mean When, what a shitty band that is. The
Black Death has got to be the gayest album I've ever heard. It's about the
bubonic plague but I think it has more to do about Lars' venereal disease he
received after fucking the shit out of pigs and porcupines. I am True
Norwegian Black Metal! The Imperial hordes of the True New York Black Metal
Horde shall crush pot smoking hippy moshers like Evilanus and art fags like
Svartedaun! You Australians just wish you were as evil and misanthropic, not
to mention pure Germanic Aryan, as I am! >:(

You know, it is *okay* for people to have differing musical opinions.
