Whether or not you dig jazz fusion or jazz rock, some of the finest
axe-men in the world will quickly turn their head, and bow to Allan
Holdsworth as an innovator and legend in the guitar world. Eddie Van
Halen convinced Allan to come to the US and get more exposure. E.
Thordendal of Meshuggah seeks to be a metal-laden Holdsworth. This man
Holdsworth can play circles around most any guitarist on the planet.
Only Shawn Lane comes close and then perhaps the great John
McLaughlin. Any gargoyle-tattooed and pierced-tongued guitarist with 6
months experience, enuff overdrive and distortion pedals, and a
big-arsed amp stack and an bad attitude can play scarey enuff black
metal. But it would take a lifetime to get close to Holdsworth's
metal-melting fury.
