JECr...@aol.com posted a message recently saying that Bjork is a
communist. This person doesn't know what the hell they are talking about,
and it's just deplorable that they are posting lies like this.

I think we all need to step back and take a deep look at what kind of
sicko would do this sort of thing. There are obviously a lot of freaks out
there- we've all been touched by it recently, I don't need to go into
details- and this person seems like they could be part of that group of
sick jerks. The message was obviously posted to incite some sort of angry
emotion.

Well, your message worked. I'm pissed! You can't just throw an accusation
like that around without backing it up, and expecting us to just buy into
what you are saying like a bunch of damn lemmings.

For example, the accuser posted:
>>
'the modern things' - a fantastic anthem to modern things and a challenge
to the common theory of evolution ... yes? no. It is also an anthem
for the late communist founder Chairman Mau.

listen to it ... she clearly sings his name near the close of the song.
>>

After listening to this song many times I can not find this reference to
the late Chairman Mao. Clearly you are reading way too much into this
woman's music, paying way too much attention to tiny details that are not
significant. Obsessing like that is always going to get you into trouble.

I think you should be sincerely careful about how you fling judgements
like that around, and about how you describe people and their endeavors. I
hope you never post tripe like this on our group again!

So I was just wondering, what is so wrong with being a communist?
Ideally, communism is the ultimate form of social organization, in my
opinion at least. Everyone working for the good of all, what is wrong
with that?

I think you have communism confused with the totalitarian governments
that have run the few examples (of communism) we've seen.

Of course, we have to remember that communism is an ideal, and will
probably never work in reality like it does on paper.

there you go, either food for thought or something to get steamed over.

i tend to agree somewhat although i personally think the best kind of
government is a non-existent one.
Seeing as Bjork is the most "pro-individuality" person I can think of, I
highly doubt that she would be a communist--she is an anarchist.

however--the whole thing was a joke anyway and people should stop being
so narrow-minded and tight-assed about communism in the meantime.

Communism is a progressive politcal system.
Capitalism is a destructive political system: just look at our
imperialistic foreign policy, the huge numbers of those living in poverty
or homeless, the total destruction of values where even the sexual act
has become a product and an ad campaign tool, where irrational fear and
paranoia and nationalism are the norm and not the exception. Your
capitalism is a plauge on the workers of the world.

You don't even use correct punctuation you illiterate lacky of the
capitalist death-machine.

I like Bjork before, but now that I know she's a marxist, I have even
greater respect for her both as an artists and as a person.

in the end of ÂŽthe modern thingsÂŽ? It means "no-one sees me

I always thought working communist systems were like utopia's: rare,
but but beautiful things filled with dedicated people. I dont know if
many of are race are that hard working, but I always thought Bjork was
an anarchist. I suppose communism is economics and not government so it
is possible she is a communist.

It sure sounds like 'Chairman Mao'. What is she singing, then? I'm
sure everyone knows which phrase it is that sounds like 'Chairman
Mao'. I don't have a problem regardless of what it is that she sings,
by the way. If she isn't a communist, fine. If she is a communist,
fine. She has a right to her own opinions.

I didnt know JECrookes untill now so I didnt have a clue she was joking,
but it was all in good fun. It was interesting to see how many people
actually understand what communism really is. There may be hope for
humans afterall. Unfortuantly there are still a few with hard feelings

No, I'm sure he didn't mean that part....that part is at the very end of
the song. I know the part he means, at 3:08 into the song, she says this
phrase that sounds sorta like "Chairman Mao" 4 times. It could either be
Icelandic, or pure gibberish; she has admitted she sings gibberish at
times.

(Queried in response to my joyous cry about Possibly Maybe being released)

Graham, contact Intergalactic Garage to pre-order the Possibly Maybe 3-CD
set for $23.98 + $4 s&h. Alan tells me they will ship at the end of
Oct./early Nov. The official release date is Oct. 28.

Yay! ;-)

I have purchased a variety of stuff from them and it's been pretty cool. I
think that that instance with the 12-inchers was a fluke. I talked to Alan
and he says he had no idea they would only get such a small amount of them
and not be able to fill all their orders. Y'all should give IGG a little
break, I think.
