I think we all need to step back and take a deep look at what kind of
sicko would do this sort of thing. There are obviously a lot of freaks out
there- we've all been touched by it recently, I don't need to go into
details- and this person seems like they could be part of that group of
sick jerks. The message was obviously posted to incite some sort of angry
emotion.
Well, your message worked. I'm pissed! You can't just throw an accusation
like that around without backing it up, and expecting us to just buy into
what you are saying like a bunch of damn lemmings.
For example, the accuser posted:
>>
'the modern things' - a fantastic anthem to modern things and a challenge
to the common theory of evolution ... yes? no. It is also an anthem
for the late communist founder Chairman Mau.
listen to it ... she clearly sings his name near the close of the song.
>>
After listening to this song many times I can not find this reference to
the late Chairman Mao. Clearly you are reading way too much into this
woman's music, paying way too much attention to tiny details that are not
significant. Obsessing like that is always going to get you into trouble.
I think you should be sincerely careful about how you fling judgements
like that around, and about how you describe people and their endeavors. I
hope you never post tripe like this on our group again!

So I was just wondering, what is so wrong with being a communist?
Ideally, communism is the ultimate form of social organization, in my
opinion at least. Everyone working for the good of all, what is wrong
with that?
I think you have communism confused with the totalitarian governments
that have run the few examples (of communism) we've seen.
Of course, we have to remember that communism is an ideal, and will
probably never work in reality like it does on paper.
there you go, either food for thought or something to get steamed over.

this is all very petty. you can HEAR it. YOU CAN.
And frankly, i;m disillusioned with the political naivity of you all.

communism is a destructive political system and i should hope
you'll all think thrice about bjork as a person and join me
in my quest to conquer the common market.
Capitalists are GO! unite and take over indeed.
i tend to agree somewhat although i personally think the best kind of
government is a non-existent one.
Seeing as Bjork is the most "pro-individuality" person I can think of, I
highly doubt that she would be a communist--she is an anarchist.
however--the whole thing was a joke anyway and people should stop being
so narrow-minded and tight-assed about communism in the meantime.

: communism is a destructive political system and i should hope
Communism is a progressive politcal system.
Capitalism is a destructive political system: just look at our
imperialistic foreign policy, the huge numbers of those living in poverty
or homeless, the total destruction of values where even the sexual act
has become a product and an ad campaign tool, where irrational fear and
paranoia and nationalism are the norm and not the exception. Your
capitalism is a plauge on the workers of the world.
: you'll all think thrice about bjork as a person and join me
: in my quest to conquer the common market.
: Capitalists are GO! unite and take over indeed.
You don't even use correct punctuation you illiterate lacky of the
capitalist death-machine.
I like Bjork before, but now that I know she's a marxist, I have even
greater respect for her both as an artists and as a person.

hmmm...i wonder...does he mean when
she sings " enginn ser mér *gibberish* (sounds like Žliii-ao-ouuhŽ)"
in the end of ÂŽthe modern thingsÂŽ? It means "no-one sees me
*gibberish*"
It sure sounds like 'Chairman Mao'. What is she singing, then? I'm
sure everyone knows which phrase it is that sounds like 'Chairman
Mao'. I don't have a problem regardless of what it is that she sings,
by the way. If she isn't a communist, fine. If she is a communist,
fine. She has a right to her own opinions.

Bjork could get British citizenship (if she hasn't already) and become
an MP? Or run for President in that big place across the pond!

It figures. It takes a Castroite bonehead to start a red-baiting
flame war. Stick to your lame-o we love Cuba non-communist B.S activism
and stay the f**k of this newsgroup. Better yet, get the heck off this
planet. The world needs another fan of a fake socialist system just like
we need another deflected national revolution.

Your name is mud, you s.o.b. BTW, Bjork rules. Nothing I hate
more than drifting way off topic because of some moron. Anybody else want
to kick this numpty's sorry a*s? Flame him to hell and back.
I am not attacking you--and if you feel I am because I merely have an
opposing view--then you are a close-minded freak.
let's get back to discussion more important and relevant to this

I think that was the idea, but a lot of people (I'm sorry to have to say this, but mainly
Americans) don't understand the concept of irony and never apologise for their actions.

Same here Rach, I thought the internet had a lot more potential than

No, I'm sure he didn't mean that part....that part is at the very end of
the song. I know the part he means, at 3:08 into the song, she says this
phrase that sounds sorta like "Chairman Mao" 4 times. It could either be
Icelandic, or pure gibberish; she has admitted she sings gibberish at
times.

I bet you're a closet commie as well, eh? Lighten up!
I just wish you would stop being such a tough guy. You seem to really
enjoy picking fights with people on this group, because there's no
face-to-face reciprocity, I suppose. You like to talk a lot about how all
these people on the group piss you off, how so-and-so is an ass for doing
this and that, and it's all crap. It's just a fucking waste of time.
It's sad that you use this group as a place to take out your aggressions.
I love Bjork's music- it makes me really happy to listen to her. I come
here to talk to other people about positive things regarding her and her
projects, not to have it out with people.
I will admit that perhaps JECrookes and I sometimes took her little joke
too far. I know some people got pissed. But she, and then I, did it to
prove a point- this should be fun, not a place where people attack each
other. I learned that in a rather embarassing fashion a few months ago,
and I wish you and others like you would take the hint. I don't mean to
sound like Rodney King, but I don't see why we can't all just get along.
It would be much more fun and we could stop bothering people with these
meaningless crap postings.
