..since
so many artists and poets
throughout time
have experimented with drugs.
like high priests in Indian tribes used peyote.
think of all the great Romantic writers who chose to experiment...
people like
poe.
whitman.
artaud.
rimbaud.
freud.
jung.
kerouac.
ginsberg.
burroughs.
miles.
lennon.
bowie.
leary.
AND
not all of THEM
went down in flames, either.
some managed to survive the challenge.
(we must put into proportion this hysteria about drugs that spills forth
from all MEDIA?)
so does bjork belong to this
O SO Romantic Company?
well (imho) possibly, maybe.
but if so, she at least has some pretty impressive comany, wouldn't you
say?
it seems some artists
(like ancient shamen)
choose to expore
the NATURE
of expanded consciousness.
so maybe she is a "hunter" too.
i could not care less what
bjork (as an artist) does in her private life
if it serves well her life purpose
(mother and music, i assume)
and hurts no one outside of herself...
she should have the perfect right
of rule over her own body, mind and spirit.
for me, she is all about the spirit of liberation.
consider:
some of our astronauts made it to the MOON.
and some sacrificed their very
lives to clear the path for others;
artists or priests have a need to explore
inner space and will continue
find access to drugs
if it suits their vision and purpose;
if it lessens the pain;
if it enhances this discovery of new worlds.
artists require freedom.
it is that simple, really.
her music
is drenched
in the idea of perfect freedom for all senses.
freedom even for the "non-sense"s!
and just maybe
this how she is able to make us
ALL
NEONLIKE...?
ah, exquisite gift of "bjork in nature".
..her music alone is my drug.

I'm not saying I'm against people who use drugs, I'm against taking them
myself. I've seen a lot of people having a reasonably normal life and be a
user. But that's not to say I'm not concerned about them. Smoking can get
you lung-cancer, drugs aren't that good for your health too (especially if
you take to much).
I'm just asking to know, because I don't want her to die at an early age
(we all don't want that, do we ?). Then the media would probably make her a
fucking god and the 'normal' public would suddenly start buying all of her
records, say they always loved her music. We'd have a million tv-dramas
about "the real life of Björk." Tons of biographies that would describe her
shocking life, the shit she had to put up with. That's hypocrite !
So does she smoke or not ?
Bas van der Noordt
These are just rumours. The part about Björk taking drugs was probably born out
of a hypothetical question. Until I hear some substantiated evidence of her
drug habits or smoking habits, I'll assume she is not a junkie or a smoker.
I'll concede that Björk's environment is conducive to junkies but that does not
make her a junkie.
[If she is a junkie, I'll think less of her not because she's a junkie but
because she's a mother who is also a junkie.]

But I agree that I would prefer
she live to be a healthy old dame
and be ever prolific with more and more
music as brilliant as HOMOGENIC.
My selfish impulses would wish for that:
music, not drugs.
But each person follows a separate path to enlightenment.
If drugs are a segment on that road for her:
so be it.
I refuse to moralize.
I plead only for the FREEDOM
of the individual to seek the means to
maximum imagination and creativity.

Even if Bjork does do drugs occasionally, that is far from being a "junkie".
As far as I'm concerned, I love her music and I think she's an unbelievably
cool person. However, anything as personal as whether or not she does some
form of drugs is absolutely none of our business. She's a big girl and is
fully capable of making her own decisions, and I don't think it matters to her
if some of her fans don't agree.
Lisa
I have friends who occasionally do drugs and it does not bother me that much.
Sure, I wish they weren't doing it but I also respect their freedom of choice.
Same applies to Björk if she is doing drugs I wish she would stop but I really
can't tell her what to do nor would I want to tell her what to do. The part that
does bother me is that Björk is a mother, as such she is responsible for her
Sindri as well as herself.
I'm sure no one in their right mind will condone drug use but I understand we
don't live in a perfect world so we have to leave a lot of room for tolerance. I
can tolerate Björk doing drugs (even as a mother), even if I'll end up thinking
less or her (I still like my friends but I see them under set of different eyes
than before.), but when I go to the record store in the corner of my mind that
entire stint about drugs will linger and keeping Björk, the musician, and Björk,
the human being, will be made a tiny bit more difficult (at least for me after all
they are the same person.) In all likelihood, I'll end up buying her CDs
regardless but not under the same circumstances.
[I get a feeling my stand on this is not very popular.]
And keep in mind that this is ALL hypothetical (in fact this is more about drugs
than it is about Björk.)

Drugs are legalized, at least some of them (alcohol, cigarettes, sleeping
pills,
and many more).

That's your opinion, but have you ever listened to Björk-songs when smoking
pot?
No?
You definetely missed something...
That's too off-topic so i quit.

I think you all have talked about this before, but how do you like the Alec
Empire
remixes of Jòga, i think they are complete crap, he did better mixes than
these.
So long
hey i think i read the same interview... don't remember it saying she did
any drugs, but that she indulges in the sauce quite often.

what else is there to do in iceland? =)

I read that article and the impression that I got from the commentary was 1)
Bjork parties (no duh!) and 2) Bjork may have experimented with drugs, but
she is not a big fan of the effects.
