does anyone know when this took place and why?? it seems really out of
character for her.

I saw a similar "news" piece a view years ago and I believe they said
Bjork was on heroine at the time...

Oh crap that's old news. It happened in 1995 . . .while Bjork was touring Asia
supporting POST.
The media tried to make Bjork look like an out of control rock star . . .but in
actuallity it was a very isolated incident.
Bjork was not feeling well that day. So her management cancelled her press
conference and told the asian media that they would reschedual it for the
fallowing day. When Bjork arrived at the airport she was greeted by a heap of
meadia (remeber she had cancelled her public appearances that day. but they
ignored her) So she was miffed to say the least. But Bjork also was with her
son . . .and she doesn't like him exposed to media. After excusing herself
repeatedly they media continued to fallow her . .photgraph, and film her, and
asked her questions. Then on MTv reporter at the story goes asked Sindri some
dumb question about having a mom that's a rock star, then turned to Bjork and
welcomed her to Bankok . . . .Bjork snaped and threw the reporter to the floor
and beat her up pretty good! :)
I would have done the same. Just looking at the tape you can see bjork looks
tired and pissed . . . .I think It just became anothe incident that the
tabloids used to support themselves against stars. It's a war, they tell you
she crazy and we should feel bad for the reporter, but Bjork wasn't well, and
made it clear that she would meet the press at a later date . .they were
stalking Bjork . . .so although not Bjork greatest decision, it's totally
understandable.
Bjork did feel bad and called the reporter after the incident to appologize.
fight the gutter press. . . . .don't support tabloids and trashy journalism.

well thanks for the info. the segment on inside edition didn't give any
context to the story.

Is this the same incident outside an airport? I don't remember seeing
her kid with her. Maybe it's just my memory.

He was certainly there, sitting on top of the luggage cart she was pushing.

of course, it was another "Rock star trashes hotel room" sort of story
but when the full truth came out, Bjork received a lot of sympathy.
People realized that she was just fulfilling a basic animal instinct.
It was a classic example of a mother protecting her young.
Bjork and the reporter (Julie Kaufman) later apologised to one
another and nobody got sued!
