It has one disc of new tunes, and features collaborations with RYAN
ADAMS, BEN KWELLER, and members of FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE, MY MORNING
JACKET, SMASHING PUMPKINS, and NADA SURF.
The second disc consists of their biggest 70s hits, and was recorded
live over a year ago for XM radio as part of it's then..again...live
series.
And if you download $10 album from Itunes, you get a different
exclusive bonus track, "Glass King".
It's only $12 when you pre-order at amazon.com, like I did.
Target stores are selling it for $10 and also has a $13.98 package with
an exclusive 8-song DVD from the live XM concert.
But if you pay $14.88 at Wal-Mart, you get an exclusive bonus track,
"Saturday Sky".
Borders stores are selling it for $15.99, with an exclusive bonus track
"Paradise".
They will be guests on the Letterman show tonight, and on XM-7
tomorrow. They are featured on VH1-classic "Pop Show" this week, World
Cafe on Friday, and on Breakfast with the Arts on Sunday morning, so
tune in!
While America has always been one of my favorite bands, I'm not sure
that I like this kind of marketing. You have to buy the same album
multiple times just to get the bonus material. Perhaps you want to swap
tracks, or I can sell an extra copy on ebay.
