I am new to this group but not new to the Beastie Boys at all. Usually I try
and avoid newsgroups because my experience has been that they usually end up
with long threads arguing things that have nothing to do with the focus of
the group <kinda of like that crazy Columbus thread>. Anyhow, I LOVE the
Beastie Boys and would like to be a long time member to this group. I just
hope we can keep some peace and use this forum to spread the wealth of
information on the Beasties. I hate seeing long time fans like myself
dogging on newbies about questions we consider dumb. I mean this is where
you go to learn right? We should UNITE and stand by each other. Follow the
Beastie example and lets help each other out on here. I would hate to see
new users scared to post valid questions because they might get slammed by
hostile users ..... I wont mention any names <Prodigy Rules>. Oh well, that
is what I gotta say. Anyone know any cool trivia like the story behind the
inside cover of Paul's Boutique <the underwater picture>? Anyone know when
the Japanese dolls will be released <I know this is a Japanese item only ...
will not be released to the US>.

You might find something you like on my BBoys site. Let me know what you
think. I have put a lot of work into it.

PEACE,
BoyNasty

I agree I've only been a fan for a couple years, I was only 3 when they
first came out. So I think it's not fair to get shot down whenever a
person like me asks a simple question- I'm not talking about the
stupid-ass questions like "who is Mike D or Adrock or MCA?" People also
shouldn't get overly obsessive with the B-boys, I know that they're
great and everything- but don't get too caught up in their world- it
gets annoying and it seems like you don't have a life of your own, no
offense. Don't get me wrong, I know a whole lot about the Beastie Boys-
I just don't go out of my way to find out what shoes they buy or what
color underwear they wore yesterday- stupid shit like that. Well there's
my two cents -wish you all peace in '99!

Damn, you all should go the dave matthews board, they are the most hostile
group in the world. I asked a simple valid question, like what date his new
live album was being released , and I got nasty emails saying i have no right
to be at the board. I'm glad this group isnt like that, so let's all just try
to get along

I thought that you would enjoy this quip about the Paul's Boutique cover. It
comes from the book, "Rhymin' and Stealin'" by Angus Batey:
" The record was appearently titled aftera men't clothing shop in Brooklyn,
pictured on the cover, but the truth is reather more complex. The sleever was
lavish, particularly in a limited edition vinyl pressing which arrrived in an
eight-panel folding cover that reproduced a 360 degree photograph of the site
of the store. But the streeet corner picture - the junction of Ludlow and
Rivington Streets - is in fact on the Lower East Side in Manhattan, not
Brooklyn, and thesign that claims the shop is the fabled Paul's Boutique is
actually hanging from a different store all together (Lee's Sportswear). What
now seems likely is that the band had decided to name the LP after the real
Paul's Boutique, only for the shop to go out of business before the cover was
shot." Page 99.

I was told that it wasn't. But I can not remember who it was supposed to be.
I will have to find the article and get back to you. It might be 2 BBoys and
a Dust Brother .... hmmmmm ...
