What's up with Mike Love's stage style? He leers at the audience,
rarely smiles, and generally appears antagonistic, like he's ready to
start a fight.

I guess it worked well for the Beach Boys, but has he ever commented on
the reasons for this stage style?

Where have you been since 1963?

Who cares about Mike Love, he was the weak point in
the Beach Boys! I agree, he leered like hell, but the guy had a
nasally weak voice. Compared with the power of Brian's and Carl's
vocals, what the hell was Mike Love doing in the Beach Boys to begin
with?! Pure family loyalty. Otherwise, Brian would have kicked Mike
out by '63, and then Dennis would have kicked his ass and f'ed his
daughter.

I saw the Beach Boys in the 80's at a fair near Seattle, and mike was all
show and niceness.
