In an attempt at talking about Ae rather than slagging each other off,
I was wondering if anyone out there had seen the band live?

I haven't seen them myself, but would love to if they could at least
play somewhere on the same continent as me.

I've about seen them four times now, but I only recollect three times

- Mind the Gap festival in Ghent, Nov 95 : they were great but the songs
were almost exact the same as on the cd's (songs were mainly from Tri
Repetae and Anvil Vapre)

- Ten days of Techno in Ghent, july 96 : best one I saw, none of the stuff
they did has ever been released; it was kinda industrial, dark and very
scary.... I can't desribe it quite, you just had to be there...

- Dour Festival july 98 in Dour: great show with mostly tracks from LP5,
just perfect act to follow the brilliant Tortoise gig before..;

I also got a recording of a live show they did but I kinda lost it during
all the home moving I've been doing during the years, but I gotta have it
somewhere...more on this when it's found.

I saw them in detroit a few years ago... circa anvil vapre/chiastic slide.
I enjoyed it: it was a rather small room and we all crowded around them to
get a view. They seemed to remix/alter most of their material to the point
that some of it seemed unfamiliar/new. but, a recognizable hook/rhythm
would appear and everyone seemed to nod in agreement. there was a humorous
moment when what seemed like static blasted through the speakers almost by
mistake... like the wrong button pushed or some such damage done. but they
repeated it and the realization hit that it was second bad vibel(can't
remember for sure). I'd say it was a great show although I left feeling
like it was too short (probably just me wanting more of a good thing).

p.s. many of us seemed intent on studying HOW they performed; their
equipment, how they worked it live. I was excited that most of the
arranging seemed on the fly(as oppossed to fully pre-recorded/scripted).

I saw them at the Que Club in Birmingham in England. They were bassed out
that night - it was a shame....spoiled the whole night. It appears i must
have been at the only bassed out gig of that tour. Love their music - adore
their style. Its not put me off seeing them again - i know that this was a
one off....I will be first in the queue at the next Autechre gig near my
way!
