News: Super Relax, and Don't Stop, Even in the Parking Lot
Ed Hewitt, Music Wire

Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori of the Japanese-American hip-hop duo Cibo Matto
("Crazy Food" in Italian) keep some stellar company. Last summer, the duo
joined Yoko Ono, her son Sean Ono Lennon and his band Ima, Mike D. of The
Beastie Boys, Russell Simins of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, John Zorn
and Masada at Ono's Central Park bash /concert. They were the openers for
Pavement and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's tour with R.L. Burnside,
and their full-length debut Viva! La Woman last year made countless
best-of lists.

Their songs are always about food on the surface, about anything but food
down in the mix. A new EP, Super Relax (Warner Bros.), treats the song
"Sugar Water," from the Viva! album, like the palimpsest it deserves to
be. -- e
