Can anyone tell me where the following quote came from?

"Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole."

I'm thinking that Andy Warhol said it, but that it was in a song too.
Any ideas? PLEASE?

I wrote that it was on the Repo Man Soundtrack, then after reading the above I
ran over and undusted my vinyl of Modern Lovers (Which I don't think Ive
listened to in five years) and am now listening to the original.
I stand corrected, and am thankful for the suggestion. It is much better. I
think I will listen to the rest of the album now too.

The song to which you are referring is off the repo man soundtrack and is
performed by the Burning Sensations. There you go.

Johnathan said (when he was in NZ) that the only reason people liked the song
was becase it had a swear word in it.

That was a cool concert - as he played the guitar he kind of tapped danced on
the floor to beat out a rythem.

Your opinion is the absolute truth in this case.
And "Pablo Picasso" was also covered by John Cale
(who was also the producer of the original version).

The Rhino reissue, I have noticed, contains two tracks
that are not on my European CD release (nor on the
original LP). What are they like? Are they as good as the rest?

To the best of my knowledge, that's a cover. I'm pretty sure it was

Damn! Now that you asked I forget the name of the song and band. It was
featured in the movie RepoMan and is on the soundtrack.

I believe the line concludes a verse saying:
"Consequently Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole"

Another interesting cover of Jonathan Richman's Pablo Picasso is the one
by Phranc, who changes it to "Gertrude Stein was never called an asshole".
Phranc will be performing in San Francisco soon, doing her Neil Diamond
impersonation show, "Hot August Phranc" at the Great American Music Hall.

This might have been said before - I haven't caught this whole thread - but
it's on the Repo Man soundtrack, performed by the Juicy Bananas (or was
it the Burning Sensations? It's been a while since I listened to it).
The rest of the soundtrack is pretty good too!

Surely some mistake here -- "Hospital" appears on the original LP.

Minor nit: not all of the LP was produced by Cale.

Yes, I loved the Modern Lovers' version of this song, but John
Cale also did a terrific cover of it, which he played in many live shows
and basically made part of his permanent repertoire. Perhaps this was a
small payback for the strong influence that the Velvet Underground had
on those early Modern Lovers songs ("Pablo Picasso" included). Anyway,
I don't remember this song being played in "Repo Man," but I would
strongly recommend the John Cale version.

somewhere in the back of mind i have part of a song stuck in my head, but i
cannot figure out what it is. i think i heard it in 1984 or 1985, and have
not heard it since. these are the only lyrincs i know, and they are not
even exact:

we'll sink with california when it falls into the sea

i think that was some sort of chorus, or part of it, at least.

thanks in advance,

Emilio Estevez was cruising away in the car feeling pleased with himself while
this song was playing. He mounted the curb accidentally knocking over a
rubbish bin - his cool was blown and the song ended.

The song is called "Sink with California," performed by Youth
