This may be a really stupid question, but I have to know this. Are
Weezer really from Kenosha, Wisconsin, like they said in the Buddy
Holly video? This is old news, I am sure, but I just got back from my
family's house a stone's throw away from Kenosha, and they have never
heard such a thing.

I suspected as much, as they sing about surfing, and there is nowhere
to surf in or around Kenosha, unless they surf in Lake Michigan...

: Jason
they are from LA, heard it in an interview. The Wisconsin, Buddy
Holly thing was an idea of Spike Jonse I believe. New album out soon, but
when? I heard it was supposed to come out on the 20th. Anyone know? I
am without WWW access right now.

From my Web site (http://members.aol.com/kenoshaweb/celebs.html):
Weezer - Some people may think that this band hails from Kenosha, but it
doesn't. The members are from Arlington, VA, Buffalo, NY, Knoxville, TN,
and Connecticut. They formed Weezer in Los Angeles in 1992.
In 1995, the video for their song "Buddy Holly" won several MTV Video Music
Awards. Directed by Spike Jonze, the clip consisted of vintage Happy Days
footage intercut with shots of Weezer performing on the original Arnold's
Drive-In set. The introduction was delivered by Happy Days cast member Al
Molinaro. Given the opportunity to ad lib, Al plugged his hometown -- and
his words " ... from Kenosha, Wisconsin: Weezer!" ended up in heavy rotation
on MTV for weeks.
The new album, "Tinkerton," is due out September 24th. We do windsurf here on
Lake Michigan, but the waves are rarely big enough for much else.
