I just like live music...it's real. And I don't feel like I'm ripping
off the bands because I buy their cds and go to their shows. In fact,
the industry is reporting that the artists are making more money off
their shows than their cd sales. Go figure. They knew it was
happening, they just didn't give a shit. Now bands like Tool,
Radiohead, NIN, etc are releasing on the webs (and yes I bought a copy
of microfish and feel privileged to have it since it was a web
purchase only thing) and the RIAA can JUST SUCK IT.
In fact, I'm sort of amazed that the band signed with another label
instead of doing their own thing. Must be getting lazy and tolerant
in their old age. At least they're going to see old age. All the
material is OLD. Much as I dig what is going on with WIlliam (please
don't bash me...the show was good and he was plenty respectful
seeming) yeah, it's not the same AIC. There is something missing and
it's not just the voice - it's a presence.
Thank God he's not trying to fill *that* because it's never going
away. I have a weird feeling that it's gonna be something like the
Foo Fighters songs...most of the time if I twist them around the right
way they're all pretty much about Kurt. I think that is going to be
the way, as well. I don't blame anyone for being bitter or sad - they
lost a friend and they're probably trying to choke it down every step
of the way. I'm amazed they can even set foot on stage as AIC - it's
a tremendous testament to whatever therapy they're under.
Anyhow, that's that. Looking forward to the show on the 26th.
